Is there a specialist who knows for sure which model Ford tractors (small ones from the '50's/early 60's) had live power or was this an option only on certain models?

I know the 8 and 9 n's don't have live power but what about the 600 and 800 series tractors. I have talked to tractor owners who say their tractor has live power and then I ask what they understand that to mean and they get stumped. I know there are many experts out there on this subject so appreciate any insight. Thanks for your help.

Even on into the 90s' some small tractors didn't have Live PTOs'
The 96 model the 1710,1720 didn't and the 1715 did the 1710, 1720 Live PTO could be installed by dealer. I have a 1715 and the dealers all tell me that it doesn't have live PTO . But all 1715s' came with live PTO .

I'm assuming by live power, you mean live PTO. If you mean live hydraulics, ALL Fords from '53 on have live hydraulics, unless they are a srtipped down model with NO hydraulics. Live PTO became a (RARE) dealer-installed option in '53-54, and a factory option starting in '55. The individual model number tells if a tractor has live pto or not. A middle digit of 6 indicates live PTO. (examples: 660, 860, 960) All Select-o-Speeds have independant PTO, which some people call "live". No 4-speeds have live PTO. 5-speeds may or may not- Non-live have a middle digit of 5 (ex.:950) and Live have the 6 in the middle. hope this helps.

Actually, any NAA's in 53 or 54 with the dealer installed Live PTO (like mine) are 4 speeds.

You are right- I misstated that. NAA's only had the 4-speed, so I should have said that no 4-speeds came with live pto from the factory.
