This is my ole MF-690 in field clothes getting a good workout. Tractor has Perkins diesel 4-248, 67 PTO HP, 8000 lbs. Plow is MF Model 74, 3-point, 3 14-inch bottoms, going about 7 inches in hard, red, Texas clay with a full stand of oats on it. Man it was tough, but draft control worked perfect and kept the rear tires slipping a bit all the time. The plow seemed to pull nice and straight, and left soil turned pretty good, considering only one colter installed. Broke about 9 acres to plant sudan-cross for this summer hay. Tom

Tom Why didn't you just bale the oats when they firrst headed out? Oat hay makes good hay if baled at correct time.

They werent ready to bale yet, and were from oats planted in 2006 that came up on a voluntier basis during 2007. Could not bale last year 2007 because of constant rain. When oats come up on voluntier basis, they are too early, keep trying to head out, etc. Wanted to break the land, get it back on schedule. Will plant Sugar Queen later this month, weather permitting.
