There is a bunch of people around here that call themselves "ghost hunters".They lurk around cemetaries in the dark taking pictures, and also of poor condition homes, usually from the roadside only. They listen to static from radio's for hours at a time and do recordings around people and listen to the static from that to see if someone dead is trying to talk to them.Is this acceptable in your area?I have told them that they are %^(*!%g stupid and that they belong in the mental hospital.Needless to say they didn't ask me to join them LOL.What's your folks opinion on these people?

My Mom grew up in rural WV (still pretty rural too I guess). She always told us stories about this and that. Things always happened to someone else. When we'd ask why only certain people would be bothered, she said that haunts only bothered people that were guilty of something, the rest just knew stuff was around. Figured that was just a cheap way to get us kids to behave ourselves. Went hunting in that area a time or two, and didn't find my way out one evening. Started believing things real quick. Never saw anything, but would get the feeling I wasn't the only one walking. Couple of times I'd stop quick and here a rustle close by. It can get real dark in them woods too and I'd been beating myself up with brush. Got to thinking about the rustling noise I'd been hearing and next time I stopped and heard it, I went to where I thought it was. Fell down a bank and in a ditch and thought my world had ended, but when I got my feet back and my heart slowed down, I was on a logging road and made my way to a gravel road with my "Buddy" always close by. Turned out I was only about half a mile from the truck and found it the next morning. Killed me to tell Mom about it and get that "I told you so" smile.

Come to think of it, a nephew of mine once owned a farm house where strange things happened. He was single at the time.

He'd come home from work and find a closet door standing open that he knew he had closed and latched in the morning, he'd work in the yard for an hour or two in the evening and come in to find a chair moved in the living room, or he'd get up in the morning and find a coffee cup he'd left on one end of the counter in the kitchen on the other end of the counter.

He said there was never anything menacing, and he never actually saw anything, just stuff moved all the time enough that it couldn't have been faulty memory on his part.

I've never had any personal experience with any type of ghost or whatever but based on what we've been told the house I grew up in, which was my great grandmas house, is haunted by her. My parents had two sets of renters that had "ghostly" experiences. One lady was setting at the table one night and looked up to see n older lady setting across from her. She said they had a conversation about some problems she had been having with a divorce and custody battle and the lady told her everything would be all right and then slowly disappeared. She told Mom about it by first asking if anyone had died in the house. When Mom asked why she told her the story. My great grandma didn't die there but her and my great grandpa had built the house, she lived there til she died, and she lay in state there before the funeral. Anyway, the lady had never seen a pic of my great grandma nor did she even know that it had been her house. When Mom asked her to describe the lady she saw, without telling her anything, she still proceeded to describe the lady she saw and what she was wearing, in detail. Mom said it was scary that she described her grandma and the cloths she usually wore to a T. The next couple that rented experienced things being moved around the house, doors opening and closing, etc with no explinations. In an old house you expect certain things like doors popping open, closing themselves, etc because of the house settling an things not being exactly true anymore, and in nearly 20 years in the house we knew all of it's quirks. What was really strange was they would tell us about a door that would open on it's own, or close on it's own, and in all the years we lived there the door had consistently done just the opposite because the jamb was out of plumb the other direction, or the air flow to the furnace return went that way. For the doors to do what they did for them they had to move uphill on their own, unless they defiled gravity, or they had to move against ther air currents. Whatever they did they couldn't do what they did without some kind of external assistance be it a ghost or whatever. As for the stuff moving around we never experienced anything like that but who's to say.

Signs at gates to Salt Lake City cemetery say something like "Closes at dusk", among other rules, I believe. Can you see why that might be good public policy?
But then there was that pretty well-known author (can't remember the name) who was going for a very long walk, and had to sleep for a night in a cemetery. He said he never slept so well anywhere, as in that cemetery. Think the author may have been John Muir or Mark Twain...?

I didn't believe in that stuff 'til I dated a girl that was haunted by 'em. Every once in a while she'd see someone or get this "pressure" over her. I don't believe that those spirits can affect anything physical, but they sure can make a guy feel uneasy!

I was recently at the Mountainlair in Morgantown, WV for a Arts/Culture Celebration. The Mid-Ohio Valley Ghost Hunters had set up a booth and were handing out flyers. They had a VCR playing on a cart behind them documenting one of their old house searches. Well, a book they were selling fell and dropped onto the bottom shelf of that cart with a loud bang. Those steely nerved folks dang near jumped through the ceiling. It was hilarious. I would hate to see what would happen if they ever did cross paths with the supernatural. It would likely kill them all.

I'm convinced there are things going on "out there" that we don't know about and probably shouldn't.

I was once engaged briefly to a young lady before I met my wife. She and I went our separate ways, but I did pick up enough through the grapevine over the years to know that she never had married.

Then, one night, she appeared in a dream. No big scene, all I remember is she gave me a hug and said, "Goodbye". I wondered about it for a few days and spaced it off, although the date, August 15, 1993, stuck in my mind. Later, through the Internet, I found out for a fact she died--August 15, 1993.

Now, I have reason to believe her spirit is following me around. (Not an uncomfortable feeling). She always wore a distict perfume, and I've woke up in the middle of the night several times to a wiff of that perfume. Always when I'm sleeping alone, never when my wife is in bed with me. Also, several times on other occasions I've caught a scent of that perfume unexpectedly for no explainable reason.

Then, the building I'm using for a shop on the farm was one of my father's last projects. Sometimes when I'm working there late at night, I swear I can feel another presence in the building.

I could go on and on, but it would probably be boring and just take up space.

Well, I don't believe in ghosts, never have. Buttt- we had an incident in our lives that makes me wonder about ESP.

Six years ago my son woke up from a horrible nightmare that his sister had died. He was so disturbed that he woke his wife up from a deep sleep. Two weeks later she did pass away from a doctor's mistake during a routine surgery. I was 700 miles away in Kansas on the harvest at the time and I hadn't planned to come home for the surgery, but two days before the surgery, all of a sudden I had a very strong urge to come home to support her. I did go home and I'll be forever glad I did. My son did not plan on taking a day off work for this event, but litteraly at the last moment he skipped work and went to the hospital to be with his sister.

Did something or someone up there give us a message to be with our daughter? Maybe someday we will know. Jim

Well, I do believe there are souls roaming around lost, waiting for someting, maybe an answer for something or just simply condemned by the All Mighty to walk the earth for eternity as opposed to spending time in He!!, which could be considered he!! in some ways.

Cops are famous for consulting so-called "psychics" to find bodies, etc. If nobody pays any attention to these kooks they eventually lose interest and fade away.

I remember walking down the sidewalk in Salem, MA (capital of psychic wackos for sure) when I came across a line of people waiting outside the door. On this door was a sign that read "Ring bell for psychic". I asked the people in line if she truly was a psychic, why would you need to ring the bell?

I am pretty sure that if there was any truth to "psychics" they would not be on the corner making a buck or two telling people's futures, but down at the casinoo cleaning house. Strange with all the professed psychics we never hear of any of them down at the race track or casinoo.
If I was a police officer and I relied on a psychic, I would be embarrassed and as well they should be to.

PS For Pete's sake I just spent 5 minutes trying to figure out why my post was censored..... ..... .....it was because of the correct spelling of casinoo????? ???
