How to fix bummer in reply to Walt davies, 03-12-2008 22:54:08
Walt, are you trying to get that little IH to grow into a Stieger? Way too early, it will just rot. If you want it out here's a trick. Wrap a chain around tire through wheel just like if you would if you put a donut on a string. Hook and chain met on treads of tire. Attach other end of chain to truck/ tractor/ tree etc. Engage diflock, gently let out clutch and turn your tire into a winch. Some hints. IDLE, BE GENTLE, FIRST GEAR. and watch the valve stem. GENTLE but it will walk that machine out about 4 feet per 1/2 rotation. Stop and reset, be carfull!!! but it works. Works better in reverse. CAREFULL!! IDLE or you will tear out the rear end.

Got a combine stuck once.... REAL BAD. Massey Dealership was right across the street where I bought the combine and the boys there were quick to lend a hand. By the end of the day we had a 2 big Dual wheel 4x4's buried and one 2wd Dual wheel buried to the axles.. All BRAND NEW... Thank god for D8 Cats..

One of the first tractors I ever saw stuck was Cat D-8 I told the guy not to drive it out there because the ground was hard on top of water. You know any Old fool wouldn't pay any attention to a smart A$$ kid so he drove it out there and sure enough it broke though the crust and was sitting in water with the belly pan on the hard crust.
Now I'm the old guy and I didn't listen to that young guy who owns the tractors I got stuck in th hay field. BUMMER Its raining now and going rain the rest of the week and into next week.
Some days I should just stay in Bed.
Walt

I guess the good thing about the diesel prices, (if you can call it that) is that I'm not putting any miles on the old Duramax.
