I like mine, was looking for the 1st good deal on the 3 models you mentioned, & the TW turned up. Friend has a 1086, the TW cab is better, the shifting is better, but either one is good. Haven't really sat in a JD.

A lot better ride "comfort"than a 1086.Better shifter than the IH also.8 speed with Dual Power transmisson is good. The 4440 Deere has as good or maybe better ride and a better tranny and hydraulics. The TW 20 is a fine tractor if it has been serviced and treated right. The engine is 401 cid and turbo charged.Rated 135 from the factory, some were a few horses more. They do not like having the fuel turned up.Fuel economy and engine life both suffer. They had a good cab,ac,heat and sound system.PTO clutchpack can give problems if worked hard and long.Same thing true of the dual power clutchpack.Good vision from the cab all the around the tractor. Many were sold in my area and i service and have worked on several. As i said they are good tractors if they have been taken care of and trouble if they have not been. But i thing to remember,a Ford is not a John Deere so,if you are expecting John Deere performance then buy a John Deere. If not then the Ford will serve well.

Rated 135 or 140 h.p. (can't remember for sure... 140 rating might not have showed up until the TW25) Easier on fuel than comparable age/size IH or JD. I like the cab better than those also, but that's often just personal preference. I think almost all TW20's have the Dual Power tranny- an 8-speed with a power-shifted underdrive. Similar to a T/A, but seldom goes out unless abused. Some may have a staight 8-speed.

I am a big fan of the Ford TW series. The cab is much roomier than the IH and the Deere if the cab is similar to that of a 4250. The hydaulic output is around 15 gpm. It should have 540/1000 rpm pto, but to switch between you have to change the output shaft like on other Fords. They have a foot throttle as well as a hand throttle which is nice for on road, top speed is probably slower than the IH. It should have the duel power tranny, shifting gears on the fly does sometimes require double clutching though. Overall they are very tough and easy to operate, and the heater tends to be alot better than those in an IH.
thats my $.02
