Thanks again for the input on the earlier post regarding the 1957 TO35 SGF. I took a look at it today. Seems to be a nice little tractor. Started easy but wanted to die occasionally till it warmed up. Helped to run with the choke partially on. No leaks at temperature and the engine oil and rear end oil levels were right and it looked right. 3pt went up and down the way I expected and the PTO ran quiet and as expected. I wasn't able to put a load on the PTO so I have to assume it doesn't slip. Front and rear tires are brand new and the paint is nicer than I expected.

I'm not a mechanic. Owner says the motor was rebuilt with a Ferguson "kit" by the previous owner. Tractor has run around 20 hours since this rebuild. It seemed to make a little more noise than I expected. Would lifters need any break in time or could they make noise because of the cold temperature (it's pretty damn cold in WI today)? I've got some video with sound I'm going to try and attach.

I'll try to attach some pictures... attaching the video is not going well. I'll keep trying, if you can give them a listen tell me what you think.

Thanks, Tim

About 6 months ago I was looking at a real nice Farmall down the road. Only wanted $975.00 for it. When I finally got around to buying it, it was being loaded up on another guy's trailer.

Buy the tractor!!

Thanks all for the input. Really glad I got the respose regarding sound of the motor. My 8N sounds a little different and I just wanted to be sure.

Think I'm going to have to find room for the new addition...

go for it , but you really need a chrome straight pipe on it. no a stainless muffler would be better as you still want to hear when you shut the tractor off.

That sounds like every GOOD RUNNING Continental 4-cylinder I've ever heard. In fact, you DON'T buy it, let me know where it's at. I'll come get it. That looks like a well cared for, solid tractor. The TO20/30/35/MF35/135 was the best little tractor ever built. That one is a prime example of one that gave them their reputation.

Nice looking tractor. I have a 35 deluxe that has been rebuilt. The lifters are loud, but that don't bother me. Its when I can't hear them that bothers me. With 3 speeds and a High/low, that makes that little tractor a real pulling tractor. Don't know how many stuck tractors I have pulled out w/that 35. That little tractor is a pleasure to drive and can do all kinds of work for you. Mind has never failed to start. When I first bought it, it had sat under a tree for 4 yrs and the gas tank was full of gas tar/varnish. Had to clean that tank and put some poly coat in it. Never leaked, in fact, just got thru using it on grading the road. If I could find another 35 like this one, I'd buy in a heart beat. Good Luck.....
