Condulations on a wonderful purchace!Dad bought one new in 88,they are really reliable and easy on fuel.Start up well in very cold weather too.We traded it in when we needed more power, but we always wish we could have afforded to keep it too.Enjoy.pd.

Thanks Rod. I will look at the hood again to check the unit numbers. I dident think the 4610 was out in 81? I have a ford 4600 which states in the manual it was delivered in 1983. c658187, da214c, om5b, engine ok3a? dunno thanks jay.

The '10' series was released in the fall of 1981 as the "New For '82" models. Production would typically start around 10/81 for 1982 models...

Your 4600 sat around for quite some time. The Unit code indicates a build date of December fifth 1980. That wasn't entirely uncommon for the time I believe.

My 4600 is a '79 and close to the end of the production. Forget the exact changeover year, but 81 seems reasonable. Besides, when they are that old what difference does it really make, as long as the parts fit regardless

The engine number indicates a build date of Dec 14 1981 for the engine. The tractor was probably assembled within 1 month of that date. The unit number you listed is not consistent with ford unit numbers. It would look exactly the same as the engine number... Regardless, you have an '82 4610.
