I have a FM J magneto and have a setup question on the internal timing of it. After the impulse SNAPS on number one compression, WHERE exacty does that rotor point? Does it land directly on number one spot, or where? Or where doe sit stop?

I had no luck in timing it by the internal marks, so I lined it up on the engine fire mark.

Thanks

Before it snaps, the rotor will have stopped just BEFORE the terminal that will be fired.

AFTER it snaps, the rotor will be WELL past the terminal that was fired.

when impulse snaps, rotor just fired that cyl.-it will be past cap post. when you don't have marks, try snapping thru, then back up til you feel magnet grab-being careful not to set impulse again--good luck

The rotor will line up on the tower before the piston gets to the top and it will then snap when piston is on TDC as the springs have to get tension before it snaps.
