We live in east central Illinois and are interested in heading north to MI or WI some weekend soon for snowmobiling. Any good spots to go or bad areas to avoid? We will be renting snowmoblies when we get there. Any news is appreciated. Thanks.

I went to Appleton for tech school in the late 80's. Its a nice place to hang out and gets cold enough to hold snow. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I had the chance. Nice country.

If that's the last time you've been in the Fox Valley it's sure changed since then. Appleton pretty much swallowed just about all the farm land it could and is still expanding. All of the farms that are reasonably close to us are gone. We're on the South side of Kaukauna, the closest farm is about 2 miles down the road and then after that it's atleast 5-10 miles.

Ain't so much country anymore around Appleton....

ON the other hand, I think we're on the way to a record setting snow fall this season. We're warming up a little now though and they got rain in the forecast for tomorrow, so alot will probably melt. Then I'll be moving to an apartment on Friday, so it'll probably snow like a banchee.

I think they're OK around Grayling and Kalkaska too. My brother is up there at the cabin this weekend.
