Being in the tractor all the time lets you see what the neighbors are doing. Here are a few pictures of others farming around the neighborhood. bill

Dreaming of warmer weather now.
Planters without fertilizer boxes/tanks on them still look strange to me. Around here I can't think of a single planter that doesn't have them. But different area, different equipment.

Nice Pictures. What part of the country are they from. My parents grew up in Eastern Iowa (Clinton County) and I have quite a few aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. still in the area. Looks like you could be close.

All of these pictures are south of Farmington IL. Some are in Peoria county and some are in Fulton county. There is alot of nice farmground right around the county line. bill

My wife and I spent a week in Peoria during the summer of '03, but it was not a pleasant time. We had been driving through the night from PA to get to my grandmother's funeral in Davenport, IA.

Made it as far as mile marker 6 on I-80 (i.e. within ~20 miles of our destination). I knew I was getting tired and intended to stop at the information center at the state line. Did not make it, fell asleep and pinballed between the guard rails lining both sides of the road. I was only bruised and sore, but wife broke 3 vertebra and several ribs along with a few other things. They ended up transporting us back to Peoria from the initial ER in Colona. I don't think I ever left the hospital all week until we left.

They are still nice pictures, just got me started on a bad memory.

This is a pretty intersting area. Very diverse operations and people. There are a couple of things I wanted to get pictures of this spring but didnt. Just down the road there is a guy who plants corn with a JD 2510 and a 4 row planter and directly accross the fence that guys uses a tracked deere and a 24 row. I would really like to catch a picture of those two running next to each other. Lots of small and mid size farms and only a couple of real big operators. In the fall you can see a 8 or 12 row combine in one field and the next might be a 1440 or even a 1420. It is kind of fun to watch. bill

There was a time in this area when IH planters were by far the most popular but there are very very few left these days. bill
