I would like to buy a good solid grass cutting tractor this spring. Last summer I went to a cub dealer near me and the guy tells me that the 5252 cub cadet is no longer made, he said he would try to find one. He found 1 out of state. He also tells me that the Cub Cadet line is going to start having the Yanmar diesels in them. (okay, but will they make a 22HP compact for grass cutting and other yard chores?) The Cub website shows a large 32HP tractor. Too big, too expensive Iam sure.

He also told me that Cub cadet is going to offer a 31HP Briggs engine. I havent seen that 31 Hp Briggs on the website. I have gone to the Cub Cadet website (which has not changed in 6-8 months) and the website still posts the 5000 series cubs (which I guess arent made anymore according to the sales guy)

Also the 6000 series Cubs, Nice machine with a 28HP diesel I guess isnt made either. Does anybody work for a Cub Cadet dealer on this site or know of someone who does and knows what is going on with the Cub Cadet models? What I want is a small compact diesel with 4WD, 20-25 Hp. With a rear 3 point. I would buy that 31HP gas briggs tractor that was explained to me but dont know if it exists....yet. Sounds like the blind leading the blind.

I saw the new cub cadet compact tractor with the Yanmar engine in it over the summer at a fair. What caught my eye was how much it resembled my JD 770. I took a closer look at it and found out that it is basically the same as the JD 770 or 790 except that it has a hydro tranny in it instead of a gear drive and the tin work is different. The whole tractor is made by Yanmar. I was surprised to see Yanmar building a tractor for someone other than Deere, but I could see it as a possibility being that Deere seems to be trying to build more and more of their compacts themselves. My 770 is damn near bullet proof for a little tractor. If the Cub one is half as good then it will be a dependable machine. I still rather look at my green and yellow paint scheme then their white and yellow one though. I'm biased!

Simplicity was, years ago, a division of Allis-
Chalmers. They made stuff for Themselves, Allis,
and Massy-Ferguson. Simplicity was purchased by
Briggs and Stratten, and is now a division of
B & S.

Cub Cadet has teamed up with Yanmar to produce several compact tractors. The next release supposedly will be a 26 hp sub compact. This may be what you are looking for. The 5000 series they made in the past had a cheap price tag but weren't very reliable.

I would look at a Simplicty Legacy XL before I bought a Cub Cadet now, especially if they are the ones made by CCC in Cleveland, OH. The Simplicity are a well built little tractor if you are looking for a sub compact with a decent frame, and 4WD available. Jim

The YanMar Cub is an exceptional piece of equipment,I had a chance to field test demos for Simplicity and Cub,the Cub ran circles around the Simplicity with or with out attachments.
Good Luck
