This site is in termoil on the soulthern end of the fourum index. That and for some reason, i feel like i am being run off the site by certian members, some of whom question my existance. I am real and will answer any questions about it. This is not the friendly, fun atmosphered tractor website i found in june. Just feels different somehow. My E-mail is always open, and for now i am going to ride my kuboda off into the sunset. I may or may not come back in a few weeks. Goodbye for now, its been fun. I am working this winter, and my H hunt will contine in the spring. If i dont come back soon, i'll be back when i get one no matter what. Bye for now.

Mark,

What you said is SOOOOO OOOOO True! We have a guy at work that got worked up about 30 years ago because someone said that he Cow P*****D a hole. It is an technical aircraft term when you try to drill out a rivet and you miss and figure 8 hole instead.

Well he was so mad that someone accused him of doing it when he hadnt that C.P. became his nick name for the past 30 years. It is amazing actually to see him turn red with veins popping out of every square inch of his body when someone calls him that! it is comical! He has called HR a bazillion times and we cant call him that anymore but every imaginable version is used instead. Anytime we run across anything that has to do with a cow is in a newspaper or magazine it gets laid out at work. Imagine the horror of me coming into work one day last year with a kids flashlight that was a cow that mooed every time you turned on the light. I swear my boss almost throw up and all of my co-workers just about pissed themselves laughing!
I personally think that all PETA people should be imprisoned as accomplices to domestic terrorism! I cant stand those worthless good for nothing pieces of manure. I therefore prefer to refer to PETA as People Eating Tasty Animals!

Take Care

Hi Lanse,

Well you have to remember that your young and the average person here is in there mid-forties to old farts like me so it's just like trying to understand your Dad, grandpa, as sometimes they just don't make any sense to your way of thinking. We ALL went through this stage in our life.

Another is there is no body english on the spoken words in the threads so it's hard to tell just how someone ment a comment. Had the same thing been said in a face to face talk, then a hole new meaning would be projected.

At over 1300 posts in 5mths you've been on here is being pretty vocal. There's people been on here for 10yrs that hasn't made that many posts, So I would think you surley would butt heads with a few folks. That I think is normal for this type of forum!

Lanse, look at your tractor! It's spelt Kubota with a "T" not a Kuboda with a D. If it has a D, you've got an oddball tractor. Dave

You should stick around. Just avoid certain contraversial topics that a lot of people have a different opinion than yours on. Someone else mentioned PETA. It's a good example. Remember this forum has mostly farmers on it and a lot of them raise animals and earn their lively hood off them, so yes PETA would be a very contraversial topic to them. It's OK to have different opinions. Sometimes it's best to just keep them to yourself. You have a lot of friends on here. If not no one would respond to your posts. You have given some good advice as well. And lastly, but most importantly, remember this is a web site. No one is live face to face. This can make some people try to make themselfs seem bigger or more important than they are. A lot of people think that if they they put someone else down... It makes them look better! In fact, it does the exact opposite. If you stick to common topics, everything will be fine. If someone is really giving you a hard time, it's for a couple of reasons. 1. Because it is a safety issue and they want to make sure you get it. That's kind of OK. or 2. They are to arrogant and don't have enough decency to give you some respect. Just because you're younger doesn't mean you don't have some of your own experiences. I spent a bunch of time in a course once after being in the hospital for a while. It was a stupid course but anyway, the instructor said she had the most experience because she was older. I said, all age means is that you've had more of your own personal experiences and there is no way you could have had the exact same experiences as anyone else, whether they were a month old or 100 years old. She did an about face! A lot of people would like you stick around, including myself. It would be fantastic to follow you through a restoration of an H on here, just like Allans Gleaner. Dave

Ahh, Lance, me boy, stick around a while. You have a lot of good advise given to you here, it's all part of growing up. If you are in high school, you are starting to see some of it, but when you hit the real world, it ain't always nice. There are people who like to BS you, and then there are people who think they are the only person on earth who matter. Your gonna have to learn to live with them , it takes a while to grow a thick skin, but it will be easier when you do. As said above, there are some people who will push you just to see how far they can, if they can't get a rise out of you, it's no fun and they will go find someone else to pick on. If you are going into a crowd and want to talk religion or politics, expect to catch a lot of flack, because few people agree and all of them think that they are right even when you know they are wrong. Wow, I am rambling on and not saying much, Stick around, we like to keep tabs on you. Chris

Lanse,

Allow me to tell you a few things about growing up....that transition from being a boy and into a man. This is being said with a kind voice...no meaness or hardness intended.

Many years ago, when I was 19 years old, I took a job with the railroad. Some of the men still working there had hired on in 1930's. There were all sorts of characters in the mix, mostly good men, some no good, but all were BS'ers and enjoyed razzing each other and especially the new meat that hired on. They took no prisoners and sometimes they seemed down right cruel in their remarks and off color jokes. But underneath.....it was all in fun..... .but you had to be a man in order to understand that. These men liked poking until they got you PO'ed and frothing mad...then they laughed at you....to add insult to injury. I always had a hot temper and while age has dimmed it quite a bit, I still find myself doubling my fists on occasion...some things never leave us. Well, one day on the job, this one old head kept giving me grief and I began to lose it. There was another man there who seen things had gone to far and he came to me and said..."Marko, don't ever let them see you get mad because when they know what it takes to tick you off, they'll eat you alive. When they start their BS, just laugh with them and go on and they'll lay off." That was the best advice I was ever given and the man that told me those words was one tough nut and he became a father figure to me. He would cut up with the best of them, jab for jab, but when the dung hit the fan, they left him alone because they knew there'd be Hell to pay. That was a lesson in growing up I will never forget.

Learn that what somebody says isn't always meant to cut to the bone, even if it feels that way at the time. Learn the crowd you choose to run with. This bunch is mostly made up of farmers and livestock men....folks who make their living raising animals for slaughter in order to feed the population. Organizations like PETA are arch enemies of the livestock producers and the farmers who plow up mice nests. Espousing membership in PETA here, is almost like attending a Bar Mitzvah while wearing a NAZI armband. It's no wonder you caught heat over that.

There are plenty of folks here that don't like what I have to say mainly because I don't buy into Global Warming and the rest of envirokook philosophies. That's okay with me. They have their say and I have mine..that makes us even.

So, grow some backbone and hang tough. It'll get better.

Lanse,

I"m sorry you feel that you are being picked on but as one of the other guys said, all of us get flamed once in awhile. You"re young and this might be a learning experience for you. Not everybody tries to live by the Golden Rule and those who try are not always 100% sucessful at it. To get through the rough spots in life you"ll need all the resilience you can muster. You can leave if that"s what you want to do or you can stay. That"s your choice and it"s still a free country.
Personally, I wish you would stay. You young folks ask questions that many people won"t ask and you say things that make some of us old farts think. During my professional career, I welcomed the inputs of our younger engineers becaused they asked the old hands questions that made the old guys remember the "why" of the answers they were giving and sometimes those "whys" were not relevent to the problem at hand. The younger guys brought a different point of view to the discussions and debates.

So think it over. Try to develop a thicker skin and don"t take some insensitive remarks too personal. And don"t be afraid to defend you point of view, ALWAYS arguing the TECHINCAL ISSUE and NOT THE PERSONALITY of those you"re involved in a discussion with. SOme people will be rude and you can terminate the debate when it gets that way. It"s all right to agree to disagree and you can do this civily. NONE OF KNOW IT ALL, BUT TOGETHER WE KNOW A LOT. And that includes you.
Good Luck with whatever you decide.

hey lanse I think some of your trouble is your youth and inexperience. some of it is some old farts just like giving young people a hard time. The trick is to try and learn if you're catching flack for no reason or if it's justified, that's part of growing up.Well I'm still young enough to rember being your age and I think why you'll still enjoy old tractors very soon they will slide into the background for a couple of years anyway. just rember old tractors are still as much fun when your older but young girls are a lot more fun while your still young.

Stick around lanse. We all get flamed once in a while its just part of being in the net. People at times are just plain mean by nature so some open there mouths before thinking about how they might be hurting some one. Ya your a young pup and at time you come on a bit strong but your learning things aren't you. So if you leave your the one that will loose and then say 40 years from now you will not be able to help people like some of us older guys do. If you don't like something thats said ignore it and keep on keeping on

Lanse, I don't know what happened or what was said, and don't care. I do think it will be good for you to hang around. There is untold amounts of knowledge about everything under the sun here, and you have came a long way since you first appeared here. Don't let some get under your skin. I myself have lectured you a bit on a couple of occaisions, but it wasn't meant to be harsh or mean spirited. Like I told you before, you are young and it is expected that you will have issues with some of us old goats, all of us have btdt. Whatever you decide to do is up to you, and I wish you luck and success at whatever that may be. I wouldn't worry about folks ribbing you a little over an H. We poked fun at Mike CA for months over the H soap oprea/saga, and he hung right in there. Now he has an H, and is learning more and more about old iron all the time.

Hey, dont let some of the guys on here bother you. There will be jerks out to cause you headaches your whole life, and you are learning that. I hope you have learned a lot from the good peole on here and can ignore those who are not decent on here and tear you down instead of helping you with your hobby. This country would be better if all kids had a hobby like you do to keep them off drugs and other destructive activities.

Lanse, do what you feel is best. Take this from somebody who knows what your thinking on this subject. Been there, done that, still going. Ive come to learn, that no matter what, the people who belive in you, will still continue to do so, the fellas that give ya crap, I have no comment except for acting a fool on here is no worse than acting a fool in front of a stadium full of people. And thats, exactly what those guys are doing for themselves. Anybody can be knocked down a peg or two, some stay down, maybe even down for the count, but, my friend, it takes courage to get back up. and hopefully, you get up and get back in your groove. Your learning! and its not all easy, you got to hit some bumps to get experience. Sorry your feeling down,, but dont worry, it happens, but how you choose to deal with it, will show your true colors, and Ill bet, that you will do just fine. JMHO! ChadS

I must have missed something. As far as I know, this site's pretty good overall. Now, over at the OT board there were some pretty vicious fights, and I started a couple, for which I apologize. But the rest of the site as far as I can see is pretty clean and good spirited. Might be a click or two, but are clicks everywhere in life...but we usually step outside so Mom don't have to witness a fist fight at her dinner table, then straighten our shirts and shake hands before we come back inside and thank her for dinner before we sit down.

My Mom once said, "If they don't put the food in your mouth, the roof over your head, or the money in your pocket, feed the (not repeatable) fish". I wish she hadn't yelled that so loud, we got tossed out of the bar. But she meant well, so good luck in your decisions. Run off? Can't find an "H"? Where do you live? There are more danged H's for sale in the midwest than, well, maybe not more than N's or Jubilee's, but there are a whole lot of them to be had at any given time.

Lanse, we have to learn to ignore the ones who chose not to be gentlemen. If you continue to be the gentleman you have always been on this board you will always be above those who chose not to have a kind attitude.

The members of this board who chose to be gentlemen will always welcome your presence. Have a good new year, Jim

Well wether you go or stay will not make a difference to any one other than you. Your young yet, but your gonna have to have some thick skin in life regardless. You got some flack, but many times you opened yourself up to it. You seem like a fairly ambitios young fella, but backing PETA on here like you did kinda made a first and lasting impression. Most people gave you good advice and respect, but on this forum, when you open up a can of worms, ya better be ready for what ever is gonna bite. Your welcome here like any one else. Dont give up your love of agriculture and tractors, do support us that feed the world and please dont support orginizations that trying to hurt us. If you would rather support them than us, good bye it is I guess.
