This thread reminds me of the turkey stuffing recipe I heard again the other day. Also known as the self serving turkey dinner. Fill turkey with popcorn. add 1/2 cup gunpowder, close hind end with skewer and twine stitching. Cook till turkey blows the oven door off, and lands on table!

Sorry to burst your bubble George years ago we had a hot air popper. Plug it into an outlet add popcorn a short time later the kernels are popping, never added oil or butter. Never got to liking it a whole lot it was dry.

Heck my Mom, Granny Sue, taught a Catfish to breathe out of water, then to walk. She had it out one day and crossed one of those open style bridges. That darned catfish fell betwen the cracks, into the creek below and drowned... At least that's how she tells it.

Merry Christmas,

Aaron

Years ago, I installed a fireplace in our downstairs family room. My wife bought one of those baskets for popping corn on the open flame. The first time she used it, she filled it too full and when it started to pop and really was going, it popped the lid off and it started to snow popcorn all over the fire. She didn't appreciate me laughing at her struggle.

Reminds me of when my granpaw used to raise popcorn. He use to gather it with a mule pulling a wagon. He was harvesting on a hot day and the corn started popping in the field from the heat. The old mule thought it was snowing and laid down and froze to death!

Well thats nothing. I remember one year when I was a kid that growing conditions were ideal, rain warmth, sun, I was coming out of the field by the south gate with the drill and my Dad was coming in the north side with the binder, just that quick, good yield too.

I had to bury an old dog yeserday. One very cold night, about 20 years ago, I hear this scratchin at the back door. Open the door and this little spotted dog comes in and lays down by the wood stove. Next mornin that dog had turned to stone pottery. A few days ago my granddaughter broke an ear and leg off the old dog. I took it to the green boxes and the attendant said. "That looks like a real live dog" Hey-Merry Christmas to all.

Burns great. I have a neighbor who is a commercial popcorn grower. He dries it down to about 11% then grades it. Anything that doesn't make grade, I buy very reasonable.About 2 hundred bu. per year. Don't try starting the stove on it,that's when it will pop. I start on field corn & when it's up to temp start pouring in the popcorn. Better heat per bu., I love it.

There'd be one loud pop and then you'd hear a voice saying "Walk toward the light, PJ. Or toward the extra butter, either way."

It would just burn. Popcorn needs to simmer in butter or oil of somekind in order to explode it.
