Well just came back in to warm up a little more. But any how after playing with the points and hot wiring it would you believe it fired up with a little priming the carb. Seems to run pretty well and I did let it warm up to the point the radiator got warm to the touch when you touched the top of it. Son did find out to watch where he puts his hand when working close to the radiator, yep the fan got him, not to bad but it did get him. Well it has drew blood so thats a good sign LOL. IT will need to be rewired top to bottom front to back plus have a new exhaust system put on since all thats there is about a foot of exhaust pipe

Good to hear it runs! That can save a lot of trouble and $$ from the overall project. Can't wait till I get the money saved up to get my old 'Binder down here to work on it... third party image

old, got any pics? I just love those old pickups. I really don't care what brand they are either. They all have some really cool characteristics.

I posted a few pictures of the engine and a front view in help ID so you can look at it there. Its ruff right now and will probably take till this summer to get it on the road

Glad to hear it runs. Your son learned a good leason about fans they can hurt you. I never stand in the line of the fan on a running engine. I had a fan blade break one time. It had so much force the blade came through the hood. My first chevy was a 1934. Stan

Congratulations - It always made me feel good when something like that fired up and run!!!!
Hope your son has a good time with it and learns.
I learned to drive in a 47 ford pickup. And that was my first motor to overhaul ( with lots of Dads help)!!!
