Shoulda guessed; I mean, it being a Gleaner and all.

But what I wanna know is how come ya didn't tell me that the silly bearing on that dummy input shaft could have been changed from the outside?

Na,na na. Just fer that, I'm gonna paint that darned bell housing. So there, I'll show yaas. :>)

Hey Allan,
Be thankful it's not a Massey 300 (for several reasons). The one I had chewed up the shaft splines and the splines in the flex plate. Much $$$$$.

Alan, That ain't nothing! There are at least 2 bearings on a early model JD 8820 Combine, That were originaly sunspended from baleing wire and the rest of the combine is built around them! These bearings are so deep in the bowels of that combine Only the Lord can get to, or really knows how to get to them. LOL! I can't speak to the difficulty of your project, for I never worked on a Gleaner
O Happy Day when we traded that miserable piece of green junk off for a brand new IH 1460, It was twice the machine that 8820 ever hopeed it could be. Have fun, Enjoy your picks as always!!
Later,
John A.

Allan seen an ad in the paper for a F Gleaner hydro being parted out. No name just phone numbers 308-440-9258 or 308-452-3553. I know the area code is west of me and maybe in your neighborhood. chris

Allen, you do have a parts book for that machine don't you? It shows the breakdown of the components so you know how they are put together.

Hmmmmm,

No, got nothin' 'cept my old memory and another F to refer to.

This manual came with it when new years ago, but the darned mice kinda did a number on it along the way. Trying to find a new one, but too tight to spring the $27 at the dealer. :>)

Inspect the ringgear? Inspect the ring gear?

Oh yeah, inspect the ringgear. :>)

Not a mark on 'er; she's going back together. Do I have to add radiator sealer on this end too? What brand? Hemorrhoidalis –R-Us? :>)

Oh yeah,

This could have all been over in 3 minutes with just the removal of one goofy snap ring. But, oh no. Not ol' Allan.

Always did have trouble wanting to take the wheels off all the toys. :>(

thats martin senyour crossfire single stage with ahrdener, from your trusty napa auto parts. we have a daimont mixing system for base coat clear coat, but single stage works fine for the ole farmall. last coat goes on heavy (but dont run it) for a good gloss. with a good wet sand and buff....she'll be poopin in tall cotton!!
