Al Gore has outlawed snow. You have to buy "snow credits" from his company if you want any this year.

Lucky me, the MD/PA line divides this clipper coming through. We do need rain again, though.

We started with snow at about 8:30. I spent 4 miserable hours outside at the tractor auction in Racine MN. It started to really sleet 'round about 10:30-11:00 and MAN, you really had to keep your back to it...it's 5:00 pm and it's still going on. Looks like the farmalls will get thier workout tomorrow...Randy

It's in our back yard!!! They called for it to start around noon, Mom said it started at about 12:01. Now it's almost 5 and we've got a good 3 inches on the ground so far.

First time in a long time I can remember any kind of substantial snow fall this early in the season.

We started getting sleet at 08:30 and now it's changed to freezing rain about 1/4 in. ice on now. Here in E. Peo. Ill. I'm ready for it to quit, they are saying it will change to snow tonight.

Sorry boys, a little well needed rain this morning, but it has been mid to high 70s F for the last couple of weeks. Bean harvesters are working round the clock, a lot of silage and hay has been made, combines will start to move over Christmas.

Year ago we had a big ice/snow storm here. Buildings fell down and then a month later we had a very bad ice storm power out for days/weeks for some. You can keep it I sure don't want round #2 here this year. We still have broken trees all over and brush all over that will have to rot away. You could cut fire wood on my place for weeks and heat probably 1000 houses all winter and still have wood left over this spring

Here's a little in New York in reply to Dutchman, 12-01-2007 06:44:51
Just went out to make sure the snow was off my solar panels - 11:30 this Saturday morning - Otsego County, NY - 21 degrees F.

Note my oddball 4WD diesel Blazer motorhome with pop-up roof, plow, and chains on all four wheels. Not something you see too often plowing snow.

Hi JD -

What do you use your solar panels for? Electricity or heating water??

Does that work pretty well?

Hope to build a house one of these days and am just curious about alternative energy. A friend of mine has his huge mansion on geothermal and he absolutely loves it.

Howard

5400 watts for electricity. We also have solar hot water in the summer, and wood heated hot water in the winter. Most months we make twice the electricity we use and sell the rest back to the electric company. On the worst darkest winter months, we usually break even and make exactly what we use.

Some states with low sunshine - like here in NY have incentive programs that pay more than half the cost. And, some state with sun also do it - like California. If you live in a sunny area though - you only need half the panels I have here to make the same power.

Well here in the sw corner ok kansas where we are in dire need of moisture. The "weather man" ( a term i use lightly anymore) said we were to start getting ice around friday evening and then warm up and rain most of today. Well so far we have gotten enough moisture to make the dead grass stick to the bottom of your shoes but not enough to make mud. I guess they missed it one more time.

Where are you? I agree we are really dry by Boise City, but I was up to a sale at Tribune the other day and there was some pretty good looking dryland up that way...

In Lynden Washington we have cold NE winds and little skiff of snow. Five different weather sources give 5 different "plans" for today and tomorrow with up to 10 inches of snow or ice and torrential rain. So we'll see who wins the forecast pot cause that is about as close as they get it here. Where in Iowa are you at? I was raised in the Oskalosa and Cedar area and went to school at Pella Christian. Family farm still operated by my brother and try to come there every few years to help harvest. Am an I.H. guy from way back with 40 of 'em currently in the stalls. Last name is Nunnikhoven. Later Migraine

Thirty miles south of Spencer IA. 2 inches of snow/sleet and that"s about it for the time being. 9:30 AM. I get to keep the 1086 with the 3PT bucket at home for the winter. My son isn"t managing a hog building anymore so he doesn"t need it. NO MORE FREEZING MY BUTT OFF MOVING SNOW WITH THE 630 AND LOADER. WHEEEEE ! LET IT SNOW! Jim

The forecast on thursday night was that the lower part of Minnesota would get sleet and rain first and then switch to snow.

Last night they said the snow would get here to northern WI. about mid day to evening.

So far it appears to be right.
