I have a chipper with a Ford 330 cu in motor. If I wanted to put a governor on this motor, how difficult would it be? Stan

I have often wondered if a cruise control from an older vehicle wouldn't work, in the mid 70's they had aftermarket ones that were simple to install, and would maintain a set speed of the drive shaft.

I'm with you Russ. I bet it would work. For a hundred bucks it would be worth a try. An Audiovox CCS-100 should do the trick. They sure work good on trucks and vans as cruise units.

Use a belt drive Pierce or Hoof governor. It takes some fiddling to get the linkage travel all figured out.

A source is certain old combines and swathers, and other power units, or you can buy a ($$$) new one.

I don't think THIS site has them... you migh call them and ask. Their competition does, though.

If you would like a link to that source, email me.

NH combines, as well, used Ford V-8's, with a governor.

Looks like a couple good leads for a governor. Is there a bone yard anyone can recommend who might have a ford governor? Thank's Stan
