I have a 1987 ram 50 same engine (It is BELOW the oil filter) easy too see..... .

By the picture in the service manual, it looks like it is beside the oil filter, right above the power steering pump. The manual has a simple way to test it.
1) Disconnect the wiring connector from the oil prssure gauge unit inside the engine compartment.
2)Ground, via a test lamp, to the front wiring harness connector.
3)Turn the ignition key to the on position.
4)Check to be sure that the teat lamp flashes and that the gauge's indicator moves.
