Tractor Shortage?

So,

Management seems to think that there are way too many old red tractors around here. :>(

The only logical solution I can think of is to move about half of 'em over to another farm and thereby giving the "appearance" of a tractor shortage?

I’m afraid if just one more shows up with the intent of living here, the local social envelope might be stretched beyond it’s up-to-now tested design limit. :>(

Either that, or perhaps I misunderstood and she simply meant that I should find a green one? Naw, couldn't be..... ...

Hey Allan:
If she says the problem is too many RED tractors, how about coming up with some of the IH industrial stuff like a backhoe or forklift. Then you could at least truthfully say it isn't red, it's yellow. Doug

Allan,

Cammoflage, cover, and concealment is key. Don't skyline those beauties! Think OPSEC and the next time you get ready to take a picture and advertize their presence, remember "LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS."

Semper Fi,

Ray

Allen I wish I had your problem. I have 1 & I catch H##l over it & implements setting around. Built building to put tractor in but don't room for building for implemrnts. I am not a full time farmer just own a farm passed down through about 4 generations. Imeadate Family bought before 1900 but has been in family for at least 200 years, I try to keep meadows mowed to keep trees from getting started .

Kinda cranky aren't we?

Quite obviously, one of two things has happened.

Either your mother crawled out from underneath the porch and bit you on the leg or you're still frustrated because neither of you can figure out who your father was. Perhaps both.

Have another drink sonny and slip back underneith that rock where you came from.

Hey Allan;
What happened about that JD1020 you were going to buy for your "missus" a while ago? Is it hidden in a barn waiting for her birthday?

The doggone freight is so high and this country is so big, guy would have to "buy it twice" to get it out here to the boonies.

If I can't go fetch it myself, can't afford to have it. :>(

Seems to me that if you scatter 'em out and make 'em all look the same, she may lose track of which one is which. Properly done, you could pass this off as 3 tractors. Most lay folk cannot tell the difference between an A, a C, an H, or an M (866, 1066, 1086) at a reasonable distance as long as there is not one next to it for comparison.

Just like pollution, dilution is the solution.....

MF Poor has the right idea...scatter them.
I know you don't like them inside, so put a few behind the shed out of sight.
Thats what I do...out of sight...out of mind.
I keep 3 where she can see them if she comes to the shop...the rest are here and there around the place...but other folks tractors are there too...get my drift?????

Sure am glad I don't have your problem, what with around 30 or so tractors and always looking for more and all. My wife never says any thing about how many I have. She does once in a while ask when I'm going to find one for her, which I keep tring to do but its not easy to find an Farmall cub or Oliver Super 44 in my area with out haveing to pay a big price for it. Shoot right now I have that many tractors sitting in the hay field all hooked up for doing hay. Sure is nice to be able to jump on and go and not have to switch equipemnt around

The H looks out of place... the grilles on the rest of them match up pretty well so they should all look alike - causing her to believe you only have one tractor... two if you keep the H.

Mine are in several different buildings, and a couple on the west 40 behind a hill, and a couple in various pieces...

Poor military tactics. One well placed bomb and/or an angry wife can wipe out the entire platoon.

And now one single photograph can tip off the arrival of another tractor. As long as there's no one picture of all of them, you can always play along like a new one was there all the time, just not where it could be seen.

Keep 'em scattered and never let it be known exactly how many you have.

Me? Married, 39 years, 361 day, 21-1/2 hours. (but who's counting?) w/ either 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 tractors.

Will Allan I have been pondering this little problem of yours for quite a wile now and would really like to help you out.
If you went out and bought JD tractors maybe she would feel a lot better about your little problem.
Who knows, She might even start selling some horses off, (there really valuable these days ya know)to buy more green tractors.

Your first mistake Allan was lining them up. You gotta park one by the shed. A couple over in the trees. leave one or two in the field. etc. You come look at mine sometime. I keep them well hid.

No, I think the out-of-sight-out-of-mind is the most logical approach here. :>)

Think I'm gonna send a bunch of 'em down to Gary in Iowa for safe keeping. He's younger than I, better looking and can more easily find another wife. :>)

You're on the right track there. You just need a buddy nearby that you can use as a cover.

"What, that tractor? That's Earl's, they just dropped it off here because they wanted help unloading it."

Have you tried scattering them around the farm?If they weren't all bunched up she may not think much of it.
Change your phrasology. Instead of saying "I'm going to work on the 1066" or whichever one, try saying "I'm going to work on THE tractor". Saying "THE tractor" is tecnically correct because you will only be working on or using one at a time.

Truth of the matter is that I think I can talk my way out of this corner if I just apply myself. :>)

However, the real problem is gonna come when I let the "I need another grain truck" out of the bag.

That day is gonna come down hard, I'm thinkin'. :>(

I think the idea of "out of sight-out of mind" is a good philosophy to follow.
Household management likely thinks that your backside can only occupy 1 tractor seat at a time and that that 1 or 2 "multi-purpose" machines can do everything you need!!??
Just keep smiling. (:>=

I would start at 2 tractors to 1 horse and let her negotiate from there.

And I assume that pretty line up for the picture was done when SWMBO was not around to see it.

Oh, did I tell you the D hasent ran in years and may (for sure) have at least one bad cylinder? Let me know when to make the trade?? Bob
