The local papers have been having articles about a 450,000 tire recall by an east coast importer. But they never give the name of the tires involved.I checked the front tires on my tractor and found the B.F.Goodrich tires were made in Poland!! Anyone know the name of the Chineese tires to watch out for??W4

I bought a new gooseneck equipment trailer a couple of years ago. It had Carlisle tires on it. First time I loaded my NH LS190 skid loader on it with attachments I was making a sharp turn onto the Interstate ramp and peeled the treads off both rear tandems. These tires were made in China and brand new. That cheap tire cost me dearly that day. I try not to buy anything with a China name on it. I quit going to Walmart years ago because they are in bed with the Chinese.

Only know of 2: YKS and Telluride. In some cases its YKS Telluride. I know theres others and I have seen it, but cant find. Reason I know these two are I have the YKS Telluride on my truck, and my tire guy is working on getting me repalcements, but due to the treadwear left, I may have to buy them.Only reason these were even put on my truck is they were cheap, like 85 each, and I was broke and didnt have a job at the time.

Just Found It;Thanks for the info. I am not so worried about my tractor tires as I am about my truck and car tires. We go west every winter and the speed on the xways exceeds the 75 mph speed limit or else they run over you. With the under handed way they have sent bad food, toys, toothpaste, etc.over here I would be wary of any thing they send.My grandpa always said "you get what you pay for". Guess he was rightW4

Cooper owns a portion of a couple plants in China and is procuring their radial-large truck tire line from Mfgs. in China. If I recall there will be passenger and LT tires coming from China with the Cooper nameplate on them if it hasn't happened already.

Soon that will change, China's growing infrastructure is demanding the same products (tires in this case) as the North American markets. They will start comsuming what they are striving to export. Meanwhile we have given them technology to do so.

Much of the North American investments into China plants are providing state of the art tire and wheel facilities. Ironically (not really) the Chinese 'copy' the designs of the equipment / technology used and build the same equipment for less. You can do that if you don't believe in individual rights.

A difficult Catch-22 to take...

Most tires today are madde other than US because the labor is so cheap. But===buyer beware. I buy only Cooper brand tires because they are still made in good ole USA. Recall the Firestone Bridgestone debacle that killed a few people. heck you sources carefully. Even our cookies and jelly candies are made in Mexico or other places.

I read that story too. I get a warranty on any tire that I buy or at least a pro-rated warranty. I have read that toothpaste from China has radiator fluid in it and kids toys have Lead in the paint and the seafood has large levels of E-coli bacteria in it and on and on. But at least you are getting a good bargain price, even if it kills you.

We replaced the front tires on a 5600 Ford FWA with Chineese tires at 1/2 the price of North American brands. No problems whatsoever. Scrap haulers to local steel mill have all gone to Chineese tires for the same reason. Really no guarantee that N.A. brands aren't sourced overseas either. Local G.M. plant sources it's motors in China as well.

I admire your patriotism. But unless you make everything yourself, nearly everything is made of parts or ingredients of things that are imported. I would love to run my farm with only American made products. Even if it wasn't cost prohibitive the supply just is not there. For example There is not an American made tractor under 70HP and ALL tractors are made with some foreign made parts.
