I fertilized last fall with P and K.

Worked this spring.

Planted it May 1.

Sprayed it May 2 with a preemerge.

Sprayed again May 26.

Sidedressed with Nitrogen yesterday and the rest is up to mother nature. I'm done with this field till I pull in with the combine.

Gary

Hi Gary;
Is that liquid fertilizer you are applying? Over here they would just spread fertiliser granules over the whole field.
Cheers David

Hi David

The potash and phosphate(sp) were broadcast.

Lot of us apply nitrogen in a band as for the roots of corn to be more apt to get all of it.

Is that a John Blue rig? If so they sure have changed over the years.

Don't know if it is related to ther John Blue, but this is a Blue Jet liquid Nitrogen applicator.

Gary that's why I asked,long time ago and up until only a few years ago John Blue was the only nitrogen rig in this area. They had a ground drive pump for the trailer type and a sprocket on the tractor wheel if it was mounted.They were very accurate,you could almost measure land with it. Back in the 50s people were useing 37%N on the corn,had to knife it in,30% for the wheat and just dribble that on,and then the flat fan nozzles came along and we used those for the corn and the wheat. Now everybodys back knifing 30% in corn useing pto pumps. I got to quit thinking about the past.
