HELP!!! I have a 1989 Ford Bronco II with the 2.9 V6. Today it started making a funny sound. When you take off and the RPM's get up, you can hear the fan. It sounds like a dump truck or a semi truck when they take off from a stop. Maybe everything is fine and its just a noise. It's never done that, but I opened the hood and there was no leaks or anything wrong, the fan just gets loud when you take off.

Thanks to all, I found out its a bad fan clutch. Its just kind of a pain in the butt to take off right now. Im having problems getting the big nut off.

It could be a broken motor mount. It can allow the fan to get against the fan shroud when you take off. also check the fan clutch, with the motor off it should turn free.

Does it sound like the fan? If it has gotten hot lately where you are like it has here, your engine could be running a little hotter and making the clutch lock up and run the fan harder. Assuming it is a belt driven fan with internal clutch. Just a guess... so if something blows up, don't say the guy on YT said it was alright!
