Could anyone tell me if a Trans out of a 97 Chevy 4X4 Silverodo fit's a 99 Chevy Silverodo?
I had conflicting yes and no's?
Need to draw on someone with good knowledge of these things.
Been told that they have different shift patterns and won't work right is this true?
Thanks for any help!
Bob

Not enough information. Need engine size, VIN, etc. for the later model vehicles.

Seek out a friendly auto salvage yard with the access to the latest Hollander interchange information, either in printed form, or with on-line access.

You say "Been told that they have different shift patterns and won't work right is this true?"...

No such thing. The powertrain 'puter decides the "shift patterns" and the replacment tranny will work, so long as he 'puter recognizes it's wiring, and will communicate with it.

Was told that the 97 used a conventiomal paper lining converter clutch and the 99 used a corbon woven clutch lining and they are not compatable? and that the 98 used a diferent shift stradegy and that it would be toast in a week if used?
Can't get vin # until I get truck towed home tomorrow. Ever heard of this?

I don't know if that is exactly correct or not, but it sounds typical of problems when trying to swap trannys in the newer vehicles.

Like I said, Hollander's is your "friend".
