Restore it? Well, heck no!

After I get those sideboards pulled off 'er, I'm gonna use the old heifer.

Found this later model Farmhand 6-ton powerbox setting in at the dealer's lot. Another one of those implements that are "out of favor" or "out of fashion" with the contempory farmers of today.

Came with both attachments and can be used as either a manure spreader, feed wagon, or like the prior owner did, for just an all-around wagon with a live floor.

PTO shaft is frozen up; won't extend, needs the low speed gear/chain on the gear box and a chain for one of the spreader beaters.

Things are darned near bullet proof and I don't care if it's old; it will sure work fer me to spread the pooey. :>)

Nice find on the wagon. I bought a fertalizer spreader a few ys ago that had a rusted up pto shaft. I come-along'ed it between 2 trees after liberally soaking it in penetrating oil the 2 days before. Then i just went with 2 small hammers and just tapepd all up and down the telescoping shaft, and used a drift to tap a tthe back sides of the hub/yoke.. I kept adjusting the comealong and it kept loosening up till it finally slid apart after about 15 minutes of that treatment. I polished it up with 400 grit sand paper.. wiped down with mineral spirits to clean the grit and dust.. then greased the heck out of it and put it to work... never did try to rust up again.. even though i only use it 2-3x per year..

There are now 2$ to 1£ (English Pound), I'd better get some more old tractors bought and shipped over whilst they are cheap (for me). LoL
Cheers David

Looks the fore runner to a green Farmhand Badger silage wagon with orange wheels or those live bottom truck trailers. Some would be using it to haul and feed cotton burrs with here in winter if they had a wagon like that.

I love it! Those other farmers making those big payments won't have half the fun you will gitten er field ready.

By the way, did you get a rod weeder? The guy I worked for as a teenager back in the 70's built one one winter. It was 36 feet with two wings that folded up to transport and a hydrolic motor on the rod. I loved running it.

You nailed it!

I don't make payments on nothin'. Already went broke once doing things that way and if I don't have the sheckels, I can't buy it. :>(

Tried to buy an old 24' Morris on a farm sale Sunday. I bailed out when it hit $1850; still hopin' I can find another fer cheaper 'cause I'm a "cheaper" kind of guy. :>)

Yeah,

That's what everyone was saying. Don't ever remember attending a sale on Sunday.

Sure worked tho. Perfect spring day without a breath of wind.

Also tried buying an old '69 Ford farm truck with a 16' grain box. Darned thing fetched $5300! Just too high fer my blood. :>(

Allen

there's a big one coming on the 29th. Be the first for me on a Sunday. One thing about being tight is keeping more money in the pocket. Bought everything used. Only borrowed for the tractor. Got the old girl paid off last nov. Sure was happy to see the payment book out of slips.

I think that wagon would work real fine. Like the saying goes, No one ever drown from sweat.
