What is the oil capacity with a new filter for an 860 Ford tractor. I have an 800 Ford manual and it calls for 5 quarts but it takes 6 and 0ne half quarts to fill . Is there a difference between the 800 series ford tractors.

From what I understand its 5 QTs with out the filter and 6 with the filter. But the manual for it says 5 qts, with the filter. So Maybe you have the wrong dip stick which I have seen more then once and if so that can be a problem. BTDT and had that problem with my 841 at one time where some one had installed the wrong dip stick and it did cause a big problem as in a total engine rebuild

would an 8N ford have the same dipstick as an 800 series tractor?

I don't think so but can not be 100% sure with out takeing a look at the 2 which I could do since I have both an 8N and an 841. Just say the word and I'll compare the 2 to see if they are the same
