Anyone want to venture a guess as to what this piece of farm or maybe RR equipment is used for?

Re: Equipment ID ?? Bit more info. in reply to J.T.L., 03-28-2007 20:46:54
I found out that the name BACHERS is on the machinery in question. I did a bit of reserch and found that a German woman with that last name, married a man in 1859 and he in later years got a patent for some kind of plow. The web page with additional info is not available right now. Thought the name BACHERS might be of help to someone here.

The off-set wheels makes me wonder if it is to convert a walking plow?

Cowman, I think you are on to it.
Issues still abound:
1} why so completely adjustable and expensive
2} Why the two sided "V" yoke
3} How is a turn made without a helper to handle the plow, no fifth wheel
4} There is no provision to keep the beam from twisting and letting the plow tip over
5} when lifting the plow there is no provision for the vertical rotation

Could it be the front half of a early specialty contour plow system.

Fun to look at. JimN
