I agree with the advice to slow down. Basket cases of otherwise good tractors can be bought cheap. It takes a lot more time and discipline to assemble a tractor.

It's not uncommon for a 15 year old to tear something apart in under 5 hours!! ;^) Actually, you really don't want to go too fast, keep track of where everything goes and how it goes on. It's easy to forget minor details that will make you have to tear it apart again. Good luck on your project though, have fun.

Maybe you have them allready ? But if not get yourself a copy of the JD factory service manual and parts book for that tractor they are still available. These are the most helpful things out there and the information in that service manual will help you on other models as well as the waterloo models are all similar in construction.

Looks like you have been working pretty hard to get all that done in 5 hours. Word of advice from a guy that has been wrenching on old tractors for over 50 years. GO SLOW!! It's so much fun that it's easy to go too fast and miss details. Lay all of your parts on a bench/table in order as you go. I use 4'x8' OSB board supported on sawhorses, sometimes need three or more of them. Tag/mark everthing as you go. You must have access to a digital camera, so take lots of detail pictures. We didn't have them years ago and now I would like to have records of what I did to my tractors as I restored them. It makes a great reminder of where things fit later on, too. When I see a tractor at a show with a book of pictures on I am always impressed with the work that has been done. Good luck,
Paul

Sorry your picture didn't go through but I've got a word of advice for you. Being a fellow young gun also with a JD B (49), one mistake I made when I got my tractor was tearing into it too deeply, too quickly. If you're anything like me, you get really excited about the iron and want to dive right in. There's nothing wrong with that, but make sure you keep all the parts organized and remember or take pictures of how things went together. It may seem simple right now, but in a month or two, or even shorter, things won't fit together the same. I'm not trying to be bossy. I don't know what your style is, just thought I'd give you a tip from one young tractor guy to another. Good luck!
