I recently got into restoring tractors and have now outgrown my work space. Was wanting to know anyone's thoughts or experiences on who is the best garage builder or supplier for the money. I live in Upstate South Carolina and i'm looking to build a 30X40X10 with 4inch concrete slab, one roll up door, and one walk through door. Something along the lines of a pole barn with metal roof and sides that can be insulated. Thanks in advance for the help.

In 2002, I(49) put up a 30'X48'X12' with my two sons(13&16) and only ladders. We had it done accept for the shingles in 8 days. This was my second barn and cost $6,200.00 for the kit in southern MI. The two 10'X10' roll up doors, cement floor, electric and gas were an additional $4,500.00. My only comment is; if you make it twice as big as your sure you need, it will be too small. Don't ask me how I know.

Just got of the phone with my local morton rep. I am building a 30x70x12 with the whole interior stripped with 2x4s on 16" centers for drywall. $38,000 dollars. This includes insulation in the walls. I have to insulate the ceiling and hang the drywall myself. I would have went with a steel structure, but I need a flat drywall ceiling spanning the 30ft, and I want it to finish out like a home for my photography studio business.

Morton has built a bunch of buildings here in western Pa and the locals have nothing but good things to say about them. The local rep is extremely knowledgeable and a heck of a nice guy. I know it is a lot of money but trust is worth a lot.

Pretty happy with my 30 x 60 Heritage. Helped put up brother-in-laws 40 x 50 x 12, also a Heritage. Had some clips welded in wrong place, they made it right paying for field repair labor (which we did ,but you are kidding yourself if you think your time has no value).

Really do it your self friendly if you have a bobcat or tractor loader. Might have to rent a scissor lift. I know other people have had good luck with wood pole barns but my two cents not having to worry about insects and fire as much makes it nice- my opinion...

Only thing I wish I had done was made it bigger :-p Oh well, the next one will be after this one is filled.

Go with the Morton, you'll love that building. I put up one of there farm shop buildings about 10 years ago 42x60x16 foot tall. I figure it has paid for itself two times around.
A very good quality buiding. [keep fixin old iron]
Good luck JIM WJ

Do you have Morton Buildings dealers in your area?

They build a nice building.

My experience with Morton is far less than desirable. Totally inexperienced building crew, coupled with a local sales rep that didn't care, and then quickly learned that the top dogs at Morton did not care either once they got their money. I strongly recommend NOT getting a Morton.
