So,

Early this morning, I road this thing out to the farm and feed the babies.

Just don't like this setup one little bit. Not even some. Can't see what yer doin' and that goofy bale is hangin' way too far out in front for my liking.

Spent the day swappin' parts around and I got 'er as close to an F-11 as I possibly can. Only thing left is to maybe try and find some irons so that I can paste 'er on the Hydro.

That diesel is a heck of a lot of tractor just to be doing chores with. :>(

I HATE having a bale all the way out on a bucket that way. I bought a Worksaver Bale Hand several years ago for $900.00. It tilts down like the bucket would when it dumps, squeezes the bale, which is excellent if the strings are bad. This thing will tip a bale up on end so I can stack them 4 high on end in the barn with my 1600 Oliver. Tip a bale down and it sits amazingly close to the front of the tractor. I'm telling you,I love this thing. Can't imagine handling round bales without it.

Just get yourself a 4020 with a loader, we all know thats what you really want. You could have lots of fun figuring out the quirks of a closed center hydraulic system. Be sure and get one with a 24 volt electrical system too. Just be warned, my dad was an IH man until he bought a 4020.

C"mon Allan. That thing don"t even look as though it is half way up. At full lift the weight will be much closer to the axle and also it will be out of sight, (and out of mind, as they say).
Run down the road in top gear and do a quick turn or two - well one would be enough - and that bale would be much closer to the ground!!! - and so would you!!!
Dont cut anything out of the frame, keep it as it is. Remember it is a LOADER, not a transporter! Sometime you will want the lift. Make a transport lift for the 3-point, just so much safer and easier on those front wheels, axle and the steering gear. You got plenty of time (or so they say) to figure out and fabricate another tonne of steel.
Regards, RAB

Replacing the bucket with the forks should help alot, not only will you loose alot of weight but you get the bale that much closer to the tractor. I don't think our Case IH loaders have quite that much reach but they have enough to load the bottom row of big bales on a trailer two wide from one side.

Allan, I have keep my mouth shut about that loader, up till now. That is the worst combination I have ever seen. Like everyone says, it is way too far out front. If it was mounted on the rear axles instead of the side of the tractor, it might be about right. Or like some one said below, cut about 4 foot out of its reach. Don,t blame the tractor or the loader, they just don't go together.

It does look like it is waaay out front!! Have you got a 3pt bale carrier? Maybe carry bale to the field with 3pt and then use loader to put it in feeder? Setting farther in front like that, is it putting more weight on front axle? Neighbor kept breaking wheel rims using loader to carry bale and now just uses 3pt carrier. Chris

Don't go swappin out parts. Git three little loader cams and a monitor for that cab. Put the monitor on a little microwave. Put a fourth loader cam on top of the cab, with a BIG zoom lens, and watch the neighbors there in Colorado.

Or am I just lazy?

I may be wrong, but isn't Gary the one that wanted that cab off of his 10 because he knew he wouldn't be able to see when he was using the loader?

Yes,

You're right. I think in the wintertime he uses his 1086 with the cab and uses his 1066 open station to stack inside his hay barns in the summer.

Well, I'll be darned that just about confirms what my grandfather (from Nebraska) used to say, "Nebraska was settled by people from Missouri, i.e."The Show me State" :>)

Of course when my folks moved to Iowa it took dad a long time to believe anything anyone from Iowa had to say.

hey allen...to tell the truth, i kinda like the looks o' that outfit. that extra reach could come in handy sometimes, like when there's two feet of mud out from your hay rings about ten feet. heck...put the rings near the fence and you don't even ever hafta open a gate! long as it don't drop on it's nose...why not?

my 2 cents, -mike

Damn fine set up. May not have the age your other IH loaders have, but I like this one. Agree on that bucket change too.

Think I peeled somewhere between 500-800 lbs off of 'er by getting that big wide bucket off the loader.

No sense haulin' weight around that ya don't use. I've always been a big Farmhand fan. Just like the way they operate.

Allan, why not just put a bale spear on the front instead of all your other stuff? It will take a lot of weight off that rig.I know,I know, shut up Bigun.
