Mostly a lurker over here and occasional poster to the fordson board.

I saw the discussion a few days ago about the compressed air car. I ran across this link today to a video explaining more about how the compressed air car works.

Thanks,

Scott

There's nothing new under the sun!!!

They were using compressed air locomotives in chemical plants 50-75 years ago. They looked like small steam engines...the 'boiler' was an air reservoir. These produced no sparks to set off explosions, etc.

thats all well and good, but no emissions my arse. With that rotary engine, there has to be some sort of air oiler in it to keep wear down to a minimum. Now that is going to be emitted out of the exhaust unless they have something to recapture it. As with the cumbustion style air engine, there has got to be oil in the crankcase which gets into the "cumbustion" chamer, albeit a small amount. Saying there is NO emission is false. It is alot better alternative to fossil fuels tho. But where are u going to get an air compressor that compresses to 4500lbs? hehe

All of these newer technologies are cool, its interesting to see which ones actually take over.

in-too-deep,

I found more information about the engine and the maker of the car. It is a little over my head but I am sure someone that understands compressors and engines, it will be a great read.

The link is dial up friendly also. ;-)
