Hi Allan, you said you plugged the power stroke in cause it would'nt start on it's own. Well I can tell you one thing. That darn cold I would'nt start even if I was plugged into something warm. LOL Oh my where's the warm weather ?

Aw shucks Allan

Thats only -32C. Our overnight lows here have been between -35F and -15F for a couple of weeks. We even had a few days where the highs were above 0F. Most have been sunny and calm so they haven't been hard to take.

John

Well, this north Iowa Norweign thinks this morning's -15 was just a bit on the cool side esp. with the 10 mph wind. We'll be sun tannin' tomorrow tho - supposed to get to the mid 20's ABOVE for a change and maybe even push +30 by next week. As far as the "feels like", I defy anyone to stand on the windy side of the shed then go to the down wind side and tell me they "feel" the same. That's how I understand wind chill!

You guys are WARM!! It is -16 here this morning and calm winds at the moment! At least the sun is shining and clear skies; supposed to get 5 ABOVE 0 today.
Had a frozen pressure valve in the well pit at 5 this morning; wife woke me out of a nice warm dream and says: "Are you going to fix the pump now??"
Well, you know the rest of the story.
Have a great day.

I guess I don't understand "wind chill." Though it's certainly more miserable out when there's a stiff wind blowing, it isn't actually correct to say that it "feels like -41." If it truly "felt like" -41, the thermometer would reflect that.

Wind chill mini definition: With no wind, warm things warm up the air around them and this warmer air keeps them substantially warmer. With a wind, the warmed up air is blown away making it feel much colder, because the warm thing (you) are continually warming up much colder air. It is an approximation, but it is certainly important when considering what to wear, or whether to let the kids out sleding.
Here in Central MN it has been about 2.5 weeks of 20 below to 15 below nights, and 10 above days. We need snow very badly. we are 5 to 8 inches short of moisture and what we have is sublimating away with no topsoil penetration. JimN

Doesn't "wind chill" also involve the cooling effect of drying the perspiration off your skin by the wind? Obviously, we don't concern ourselves much with wind chill here- rain is rain, wind or no. Mid 40's this morning, mid 50's for the high today, supposed to hit low 60's Saturday.

Hi Allan Well its 0 here right now and the sun is trying to shine. We got around 3ft of snow yesterday. I sat in the house and watched the fire hydrant out front slowly disappear. The snow is 1/2 the way up rear tires on my David Brown and 3/4 the way up on the Ferguson 40. Guess i better eat my breakfast and get to moving snow. As for that darn groundhog id like to shoot him about now. Almost time to start sugaring here in Vermont. Have a great day Lester

Man that's so cold a dog would stick to a fire hydrant. 27 over here in the coastal plain.

Yeah,

When it gets down to about 20 below, ya start noticin' it.

Actualy went out and plugged in the Powerstroke for a change. Doubt if the silly thing would start on it's own when it's this cold.

Allan

We spent 3 days in Franklin last winter at my SIL house. Lots of history in that town.

And I agree with Allan nice people in Tenn.
