I wont badmouth Eastwood, but I have not had good luck with their hi-temp paints, and they one heck of a price too.

As others have said VHT has worked great. I purchase it buy the case. Have used it on many sets of zoomies and headers.

Eastwood also make a very good manifold paint. Cast iron gray looks much like a freshly sandblasted manifold. Spray can or pints.

If you are concerned about the finish, go to summitracing.com and do a search for VHT Very High Temperature Flame Proof Paint. Comes in many colors. I purchased the Cast Iron (NuCast) Product Number SP-998. Supposed to be good from 1300-2000 degrees. Has a warning on the back to follow curing instructions to the letter, however. Hope this makes my Massey manifold stand out!

Let's go Mountaineers,

Aaron

Hi Temp engine paint. Higher the temp rating the better. Key thing is have it blasted to bare metal or very clean with no oil or even finger prints on it to get paint to stick and stay. Don't even touch it with bare fingers after painting using gloves or plastic until paint has been heated and cured or it can lift and peel where you touched it. Lots of the BBQ grill paints will never really cure and if you touch it later it comes right off on you.

I used HI Temp alum.paint that comes in a can at Wal Marts or Orielys and 5 years later it is still on there and looking good. Not origonal but I like it,

I'm not sure how picky you are but If it was me I would paint it while it's off the tractor, much easier that way. I would use a spray can of name brand BBQ grill paint. I don't think there is any paint that will truly last with regular use. It will eventually burn off. Mike.

Aaron has it correct, VHT will last, I used it on a set of car headers years ago. Two big issues, 1) the most important being that the object being painted has to be perfectly clean, 2) use thin coats and let dry between coats and don't put it on very thick.
