I'm thinking the driver and that 1066 both have guardian angels that don't mind a high speed ride. Definitely a nice photo of the arrival.

Do you have a Hi-Res version of that picture?

Remember you are talking to a dirt farmer not a photographer.

I took the pic at 640 by 480 pixels setting on the camera.

Now ask again so I can understand?

 Picture Q A in reply to IaGary, 01-16-2007 11:15:10
Hey, now! Don't sell yourself short!

You did just answer my question. :-) Hi-Res is an abbreviation of High-Resolution, which 640 x 480 is not.

Some digital cameras have several settings to control the digital size of the image. A larger image can be "stretched" without appearing fuzzy or blurred.

For posting pictures on this (or any forum) 640 x 480 is a great size - large enough to see the subject (usually), but small enough to load quickly, even over a dial-up connection.

More questions?

Nathaniel

P.S. The reason I was asking, is I hoped to gain permission to use your picture as a computer background, but the image that you linked is kind of fuzzy, when stretched to full size on the monitor.

OK, I use to use the 2056 by 1200 or what ever but I got tired of resizing for the web site.

So I just set it to 640x 480 to make it easier.

Hey is that the set of flattop fenders I have been looking for? Can't use two sets on one tractor so they must be mine. I'll start out now to pick them up and if I average 65 mph I should be there in about three days. Glad you got you're baby home Gary!

I really like the arrival picture! I'm curious though...

1) did he call you in route and say that he was 5 minutes away and for you to get your camera ready?

2) had you been waiting in the yard for hours with your camera?

3) did you just have him re-enact the delivery so we could all enjoy it?

Nice pictures, good looking tractor, appreciate you and Allan sharing this saga with us.

I was so anxious to get it I set up a photo eye on the road.

When he passed the eye it woke me up in the truck I slept in all nite waiting for him to show up.

About 4 cars went by and woke me up during the nite.

Barly had my eyes open enough to take the picture.LOL

I'm just wondering, why did he chain it so far forward on the trailer ?

Seems like it would have had to have the rear end closer to the trailer axles ?

I dunno, maybe it's not my place to let this cat out of the bag, but we had a bit of a problem loading the tractor.

I don't have any room up here in the hills to load/unload. So, I do it down along the highway right on the shoulder of the road.

Okay, it is pitch black out there when the lad gets here with the trailer and he positions it about 6" from the white line edge of the pavement. Fine, let's get 'er loaded and get it on it's way. We both agree that the rear axle of the tractor should be spotted right over the front axle of the trailer. I started to pull the tractor on.

That's when things went wrong in a big way. :>(

Don't know if the hitch wasn't hooked completely or if it was "worn" or just what, but when I got the rear axle of the tractor just on the rear edge of the trailer, the damned thing came unhooked and reared up in the air.

There I set, half on and half off the trailer, cars are whizzin' by about a foot away from the end of the tractor axle and I've got a loose gooseneck floppin' around in the breeze! Brakes aren't set on the trailer and I'm playin' "big boy teeter-toter". So, I just crept forward until that trailer gently lowered back down into the box of the pickup.

Anyway, after we got the hitch thing resolved and back on the ball I continued loading and the lad kept telling me to get 'er forward. Way forward.

I really think he was concerned about that ball coming unhooked going down the road, so he spotted it way forward like that so the weight would hold the trailer down on the ball.

This is why I've been so darned worried about this tractor haul. :>(

After reading this, and having seen the pics, it is definately a miracle that the tractor arrived in one piece. I will now breathe a sigh of relief.

I put my pickup on it to unload it.

We had to leave it set to warm up and the driver needed to get going.

I asked him if he was heavy on the truck and he said not at all.

The hitch did concern him a little thats why he put it up.

But he said the way it handled on the road he was glad it was where it was.Said no problems handling the truck at all.

If hauls another he will put it in the same spot.

Gotta tell ya,

I know I'm a big worry wart, but I've just been on pins and needles ever since that tractor left here. Then, I hear that this feller is averagin' 65mph across 750 miles. Whoa, hey!

Think that picture of the outfit coming up the road is the best present anyone ever gave me. Whew!!!!! :>)

Thanks Gary,

Allan
