I have a 52 jd G on lp. the lp tank says 1953 year and jd model G on it. I would say it is converted one. The comp. is 65 psi and put several condensor and points, plugs, wires, caps and rotors. no change. Adjusted valves to .22. the G sparks on both plugs with timing light all the time. The tractor idles fine but when u rev it up it revvs fine but when it gets up to higher rpms it pops and misses. I open up petcocks and it fires all the time on right side but left side is not all the time. Please help. is it a fuel problem or gasket, electric, or chipped valves, carb is a dltx converted to lp on the top it was drilled and tapped. plugs are gapped at .17. The tractor dynoed at 40 hp and lugged down to 500 rpms and held it strong. Tractor missed at mid range on dyno but not under full load. please help.

i had this same problem with my 720 lp it sounds like your goig to need to pull the head and pull out the valves and regrind the head and replace them it isnt as major as it sounds its about a weekend and a 24 pack job takes a while to pull them old things apart and put them back toghether do you have any pictures by the way

How come comp is 65 psi on both if its a bad valve? IS that why left petcock when opened doesnt pop evenly like rightside? Why the spark on dist. housing if i put screwdriver close to it. I had valve cover off the valves moved not sure of weak or broken springs. The block is cracked on bottom and leaking antifreeze should i get it welded or powerblock? It has 40 hp how can i get more/? How many thousands can i shave off head and or block together?? Tractor weighs 6200 with 15.5x38 should i be able to out pull super m's in 6000 & 7000 class when it runs good?? I'll get pics for u. We have a 50lp, 620 gas 730 diesel. alot of minnies and farmalls. just cant figure this one out.

Could easily be weak valve springs or the valves themselves may be sticking. Try running a qt of tranny fluid with the oil for a bit. It will help desolve any scum on the valve stems. Run it until hot under a load a coule of times then change the oil in about half the usual time.

Ok but why does the dist. housing spark when i put a screwdriver cose to it, it spark by block and dist housing where it goes in. I had valve cover off and valves all moved not sure if weak or broken springs. the left petcock open doesnt blow air out or pop even like right side does it good. How can comp be 65 on both?
