What really happened,

I have posted on this site for several years and have made thousands of posts. I have done a lot of business from contacts made on this site and my advice and knowledge in return was a trade-off. Several weeks ago I noticed that some people were enjoying pictures that were being posted more and more and some users seemed to be annoyed by it. This and disillusionments with this old software led me to start a fun board of my own. I thought it would just be a place where some of us could post our pics and stories without being hounded and we would still keep posting here. Well I used a graphic link in most of my posts for a few days to point guys to the board and then one night Kim comes on and asked me to stop doing that which I did. What followed is that her negative comments and the comments of others turned some away and galvanized the support for my board and to tell the truth I have been so busy with that and other things that I just don't find the time or desire to post here anymore. I never intended to cause any division and I don't hold any hard feelings against anybody. Like the boys uptown say, "Stuff happens"

Howard...When I discovered this site about a year and a half ago, I had just bought my first tractor, a Super M. For a newbie like me, the site was magical. Here were a group of guys from all over the country (plus Canada and beyond) who shared a love for old tractors and didn't mind sharing their knowledge with, and helping, others. I told everybody about it and about fellas with handles like Nebraska Cowman, El Toro, Rustyfarmall, CNKS, Allan In Nebraska, Bob M., Janicholson, Keith-OR, BillyinStoughton, Gary in IA, etc., etc.

This group and many others became my fraternity. Some had more personality than others, some were more helpful and knowledgeable than others, some were more grammatical than others. There's a real cross-section of iron here. But all these men, in some way, were like brothers to me. Heck, I've never met you in person and still I sent you a get-well card when you had your surgery. Even my wife looked at me a bit funny on that one. But it made sense to me.

Of all the fellas here, probably no one has had any more charisma and personality than you. I've enjoyed your photos, icons, and smiled at the way the guys kept track of your travels back to Pennsylvania when you visited your dad this fall.

So now what? Some ruffled feathers, some hurt feelings, some pi$$ing contest has occurred, and now you're leaving the site? And the ranks are forming and others are leaving too, in the name of loyalty?

With all due respect (and I mean that), Cowman, this is too much. The only comments from Kim I read ended with "use your judgment," so I may not have read what you're referring to, but that's beside the point. I think you've over-reacted and making a big deal out of a small difference of opinion. Some of the comments I read from others about your icons were much more negative, but that's also beside the point.

I have to be honest and say the whole thing sounds childish to me. I'm a bit angered by it. And I'm saddened by it. Yesterday's Tractors is still magical to me and I will continue to come here. I added your site to my Favorites today and will probably begin visiting it also. But I'm not happy about the whole darn thing.

I'm not very good at pulling quotes out of the air, but I seem to remember the idea that no man is an island, and also, to forgive is divine. My best to you. David

I've always enjoyed your posts, & gained info & fun from them.

Until the last month or so.

This here site has had a long-standing policy of not allowing mention of competing companies & web links. We can't easily mention places to buy parts from for our old machines. Can't list other ag-related talk forums.

Yours simply falls into that catagory.

Was nice of you to mention it a month ago or so. But, constant ads for it will be discouraged I'm sure. Seems a little odd for you to try to steal this site away towards yourself..... Pretty selfish of you.

As you continue these little rants, I kinda start to lose respect for you. Little by little.

Sounds like your site won't be around very long anyhow, but you are teaming up into a more commercial web venture. It really is not surprising that your attempts to advertise your web site efforts on this web site would be met with just a little resistance!

You might want to look inward & reflect upon your true motives in these little rants. I think it harms your good name.

Wishing you the best.

--->Paul

I think we all need to give credit to Kim for even allowing this whole dialog , which I may add , has absolutely nothing to do with "tractor talk" , is below childish , and is really getting OLD!! Maybe she's just giving enough rope....well..you know the rest! It's her site and she's been VERY leniant with people in my opinion. There's another forum for this kind of non-sense. Don't force her to start deleting. If I were her I would have deleted this whole topic.

Nebraska Cowman, I have a lot of respect for you and you are a great help to a lot of people on this board. But, I feel you are being disrespectful to Kim by continuing this nonsense. She never said anything negative to you or about you in her post.

It's appropriate that your signature pictures portray you as a child. That's exactly how you're acting.

I dont post much on here but read about twice a day. I used to enjoy your posts and felt kinda like you got slapped a bit hard. But this is getting real old real fast. Let it die. How many times are you gonna leave? I think about it now and realize that some folks are so thick skulled that they gotta be slapped hard. THis is getting like days of our lives around here. I'll miss your "tractor" posts. Good luck to you. Anybody wanna talk about tractors?????

You have always been one of those with clout as far as the "pecking order" goes on this board. Whenever you post, people take note and reply. People like me they don't take notice. Give me a few years, though. Since I was raise near Shelton, NE and farmed near Imperial, and my uncle was the only doctor in Grant for decades I felt kinda like you are family, especially knowing I was close to your home last summer as I travelled from Minden to Holyoke, CO on hiway 6. Good luck to you as you will be missed.

Cowman

You have always been good for this board and I have enjoyed your work.
I have made two trips thru Nebraska this summer from Mi. Wyoming and Colorado.
When I get to Nebraska I feel I am entering the west--always enjoy that trip.
Both trips I got off at North Plattte and went up town and parked in an insurance office parking lot and took a good nap. Drive a ton Ford van.
Take care good fella.

Jackson is on Highway 20 the next small town west of South Sioux City Ne.

In the 50's it was a speed trap that generated a lot of money.

You mean to say all those stories I heard, were true.
The cop forces you off the road because he says you were speeding or went through a red light he caused to go red, you pay the ticket there and then or wait in town for the Judge.
Oh I forgot the cop won't let you drive out of the ditch no mater how small, his brother in law just happens by with a tow truck.
I always thought these were just stories.
