I need help locating my serial number and model number for my 1954 Ford NAA tractor and all other serial numbers associated with this tractor. I also need info on how to decifer what the numbers mean as well. I need to buy parts but I have to find out what I have first. If any one can tell me where to look or maybe the name of a book that I can buy I'd greatly appreciate it.

Try this link. You'll need to scroll down past all the 9N 2N and 8N info before you get to the NAA and Hundred series. The site I've linked has photos of s/n locations, etc so it should be helpful to you.

Thanks for your I help. I went to the site that you gave me and it was pretty informative. I was wondering though, when they explaned how to read a serial number they were talking about 8Ns does this apply to all other N series tractors as well?

If you're talking about the discussion about using a wire brush and shining a light at different angles, then yes, most Ford serial numbers can be hard to read due to them not being stamped very deep in some cases or being full of crud and paint. In some cases, most notably the diesel models of the x01 series, there are no serial numbers to read because the battery leaks acid onto the numbers and after 50 years of that the numbers are gone!

Flat spot on the bell houseing behind the starter under the battry box. Should read something like this
NAA
XXXXX .
If its an NAA that is you could also have a 600 or 800 series tractor. An NAA should/does have a 4 speed tranny

On my NAA the serial number isn't on the flat spot, it's hand stamped around the lip. Most of the numbers are so faint I can't make them out. I think the bellhousing was sandblasted or wirebrushed and it wiped out the numbers.
