Who can tell me model year of our row crop 60.
serial number on side of engine is 620655. The tractor had the dual-range transmission w/ 2 reverse and 6 forward gears.
Also casting number on side of block is J 17 7.

From my knowledge of casting numbers this could mean engine was mfg december 17 1947 which would be a very good case for the tractor to be a 1948 model.
can anyone verify this serial number to be a 1948?
email me at vorhaus@verizon.net or answer on forum.
Thanks

Yesterday i found another number stamped in the block just below the head line at the front of the manifold side of the engine ( 4cyl overhead).
7300808 G . Any idea what this number represents?
Thanks.

Are there casting numbers on late B models- if so where?

I have no idea. I just found mine by rubbing and looking - found it on the manifold side just below the head, sorta behind the manifold.

Acually it would be 5 forward gears, as the two 5th gears are the same.

your right - 5th gears are both the same. I had suspected that by virtue of the shifting pattern sticker has both of them labled "5". Low range is marked 1,2,5 and upper range is marked 3,4,5.
Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't have known that except that I just bought two Oliver 60's and got the original owners' manual with them. I'm really not that smart.

gonna restore them? or are they already done?

Ours(wife's uncle) has been "semi-restored" - actually it had a complete cleaning and repainted and re-stickered. It continued to be used in the field after this spruce-up. Now that Uncle Cy has been put in nursing home, they are going to sell all of the farm stuff, including the 2 tractors. the other one is also a semi-restored 57 AC WD-45. Its very nice, too.
Its a real shame to see these go. I am a antique car enthusiast. Have a 1942 Olds and am currently restoring a 1970 Chevelle SS 396. I am torn badly at buying the Oliver just to keep it in the family since Uncle Cy purchased it new!
Trouble is - my wife would probably shoot me if i told her i wanted to buy a tractor now!!!
Anyway i think i am going to take some good pix of it and post them on this website, just to show it off!!! If you know anyone interested in buying this tractor, it scheduled for auction on 10/19 here in eastern Ohio. Not sure if auctioneer will accept proxy bidding or not ? i guess i could call him and ask. Thanks,
T.
Thanks for your help!!
