Has anyone rigged up a pre-lube pump for use on diesel engines that have been sitting for a long time to get some oil back where it belongs before turning the engine over?

What is the most effective point to hook up to and what type of pump works? Would a jabsco work? any hand pumps available for this service?

thanks

Buy a cheap plastic pump up compressed air garden sprayer at WaldoWorld for about ten bucks.

Cut the spray tip off the plastic wand, and hose clamp a piece of hose on the wand, and, using an appropriate sized hose barb adapter, connect the other end of the hose to the main oil gallery, perhaps at the pressure gauge port.

Put some fresh engine oil in the sprayer, pump it up, and the engine will get lubed.

(Yes, I've done this, and it DOES work. Cheap and easy.)

The oil may deteriorate parts of the sprayer over time, before you can use it again, but, heck, for about $10.00, no big deal.
