Using a mirror

I've been struggling with learning to use a loader on the tractor. I'm using a 1086 with a WL-42 loader. Now, my biggest problem is that the engine is up in the road and it's very hard to see what you're doing. Yeah there's the level indicator on the loader, but that's just not intuitive enough for me.

So I'm thinking about building a crude bracket on the very front of the hood, just above the radiator cap. I'm thinking a decent-sized mirror (say, about 4-6 inches long and as wide as the hood), properly positioned, would be an immense help to seeing what's going on with the loader bucket when it's close to the ground. I'm wondering why something like this isn't standard equipment with loaders and larger tractors. Has anyone seen or fashioned something like this? Thanks!

Use the indicator, you'll get used to it and just how much down from level you need to bump it to get it to dig. Keep tractor in a low gear and practice. You will learn to "feel" how it is digging. Not everything has to be done by sight. After all, most of us were conceived in the dark.
