Well - afer a bearing replacement and loosing three bolts from his haybine, my neighbor got about 3 acres of my hay cut down yesterday. About 95% is good mixed grass hay, but there is a small part that has some ragweed in it. We got 25 small squares/acre in June (first time this field had ever been baled). Don't know what we'll get this time, but it LOOKS a LOT thicker. He's coming back about noon to rake and then later this afternoon to bale. I'll feed the ragweeds to my goats and sell the rest.

What part of the country are you in? Here in Missouri, it'd take three or four good days of drying in the type of weather we are having now to get it dry. I have a tedder, so I can cut a day off of that. Hope it's warmer than it is here right now, otherwise you'll have some rotten hay. You can cut one day bale the next when it is 90 degrees out, but not when it is 70.

I'm in SE Nebraska. It's been right at 80* for the past couple days with little dew. It's been drying pretty fast. Planning on starting to rake in about an hour. The wind is blowing nicely, so that helps the drying.

I don't know, maybe it'll be all right. Around here, with weather at 80, I can cut one day, ted the next, and maybe rake and bale the third day, but sometimes wait till the fourth day.

Yeah it's gettin' kinda late in the year, but hated to see the grass go to waste! We didn't get dew last night, so it dried yesterday afternoon, last night and this morning. Finished raking about 11:30 and it feels pretty good. Gonna start baling about 3. Nice 10-12 MPH breeze helps, too. Neighbor thinks it will be just fine - he's been at it LOTS of years, so I figure he'd know (hope so, anyhoo). Probably looking at 100 bales or so.

I am hoping to cut some on friday, maybe? I've got a nice little ten acre filed that I think will yield about 80 bales per acre of orchard grass/clover mix. This'll be the third time I've cut it this year. It'll take at least three days after I cut before I can bale

Just got done with hauling it in! Averaged 32/acre - not bad for around here and on a hillside. Mowed yesterday noon. Raked this morning about 10:30, baled at 2:00. 3 acres, 97 bales of praire mix. This is native grasses and the second time it's ever been cut - the first being in June of this year.
