I know he sure is partial to them IH's, but if he would like something he could plow in the rain with, he should definatly consider the Allis Chalmers 8000 series with 4wd. They got a super nice cab on them, very quiet, even outside the tractor, nice air conditioning, very roomy cab, diff lock, full powershift transmission with high and low range. As far as usebility goes, you would appreciate this Allis a whole lot more than a 1566. The tractor in the picture is a 8070, which is 170hp and the biggest of the series, they also had 110hp, 130hp, and 150hp in that series. I spent part of 1 summer in an 8050 towing a disk and I thought it was impressive with it's pulling power, I pulled a disc with it and with 4wd, the rain didn't stop it. I expect after I post this there will be guys complaining about the engines blowing up, which I don't think was as much of a problem, they will last quite awhile, especially in your case where your just hobby farming, and if your that worried, then go ahead and refresh the motor every 4,000hrs or so. For the price of them, they are a bargain tractor, but they are far from junk and I would say they are just overlooked by most farmers, the one in the picture is listed by a dealer and he is asking $25,000. The farm I had worked for used their 8050 for heavy tillage, it worked great, they had rice and cane tires all the way around with duals, darn near unstoppable in mud.

Hi Jon,

Sure nothin' wrong with the Allis brand. There are a lot of 'em around here because we have a dealer close by.

I'll bet that same tractor would come in at about $50K if it was painted green. :>)

Thanks!

Allan

Yeah, I'll bet it would be $50,000 if it was painted green since they really are nice, the powershift in them can be shifted totally clutchless. $25,000 for this one, and as you can see, this one is in pretty good shape and still has all it's front suitcase weights and duals with excellent rubber. No doubt you could do some serious farming with this rig.

Yea,that would make him one sweet tractor. Problem is,he'd have to go buy twice as much equipment and build or buy a lot of those tool bars to pull two or three of them together just so he would know he had something behind it. LOL God Bless. Bob Da. (La)

Yep, have to get bigger equipment- then, have to rent or buy some more ground to take advantage of the equipment- then another tractor. . . Hey, wait a minute, isn't this the way everybody got in trouble in the 80's?

Yeah, they are pretty powerful, but he could do like that farm I worked for did and use smaller impliments on it, they had a 12ft disc, a 10ft chisle plow, etc..., and it toyed with those, but on the positive side, it was almost impossible to get stuck towing those.
Have a good un!.

Jonfarmer...Man You sure need to resize your photos to 640 X 860 or there abouts. I am running 21 inch monitor and it fills it up compeletely and I still have to scroll from side to side. Lots of individuals are running ISP dialup and are really slow which takes for ever for it to dowm load on their system....Thanks Keith
