Thanks fer askin' that. I didn't want to waste one of my 2 hills just to check...Reckon mine are about ready here in TN. My tomatoes are coming in and doing really well but the sweetcorn has been disappointing. We've had too many dry and hot spells I guess.

When the vines die is a good sign Ive always gone by. If you want "new" potatoes start diggin earlier. We live in NC and went through a time of no rain for several weeks and my potatoes went early. Been good eatin though.

After the flowers disappear, you should be able to start digging up "New" potatoes. Yum yum...but they need to be eaten quickly.

After the vines turn yellow, it's time to dig the rest up for storage. Those can be stored.

I *had* a really nice patch going this year, only thing I really lost...might save 50%...I raised them in straw and with the wet summer the slugs marched through them like Sherman going to Atlanta before I realized what was happening :(

Hi Neil,

Dig up part of a hill and take a look as to size.

Allan

I always wait until the vines die out, just remember where the rows are. You can dig some of them early for eating new taters.
