Hi Gang;
One of the recently launched Claas range of tractors built in France. Claas have bought a share of Renault (who make trucks & cars as well) and are branding them Claas in certain countries.
This is approx 200HP model.
Next photo shows plough it pulls.
Cheers David

The colour looks real close to the 1970s Yanmar,
before they went red.

Hi David,
Claas bought 80% share of Renault Agriculture in October 2005,now I think all of the tractors produced are branded as Claas. The Renault Agriculture website has now disappeared.

I always thought they were as Our local Agco/Massey dealer (Vanderloop Imp.) sells Class too, they also sell Fendt and a few other BIG names from Agco.

If not I wonder why Agco didn't pull the plug yet? Maybe it's cause they're the only Fendt dealer in the area, and they've got several awards on the wall to show how many they've sold.....

A few Massey dealers sold Claas equipment here too, one reason (and I was told this by a MF rep ! ) is because the MF combines were no where nearly as good as the Claas. By comparison the MF combines seemed "tinny" and unreliable. Fendts are very good tractors. Just to confuse matters, Renault and Fendt used to use the same German engines (M.W.M.) which were reknowned for their high torque and low fuel consumption. M.W.M. are now part of the Deutz group.

No Claas is not owned by Agco, I do not think Claas are owned by anyone! I think we are getting to the stage whereby all tractors are beginning to look alike. All but the very largest Claas tractors use John Deere Engines, the largest the "Atles" range use Deutz. They seem to be a very tough tractor from reports that I hear. The Renaults were very good indeed, but the "White flag " remark reminded me of what one farmer said to me when he saw mine "I would buy one tomorrow if they were not French!" a stupid remark really because a lot of MF tractors that were (and indeed are, with the closure of the Coventry factory) made in France. Now Renaults are called Claas it seems to have really improved sales! "That which we call a rose...."

The Renault tractor I had caused the International it replaced to show a white flag! Even the local Ford agent called them "The yellow peril", he admitted that once a farmer had tried one of those, he knew he had probably lost a sale.

Well, think if things go as some folks suggest. When Renault buys into General Motors, we will probably see these at the Chevy / GMC dealers.

Claas is owned by the Claas family, the tractor in the picture has a Deere power systems engine driving to a Gima gearbox and back axle,the same as used by Massey Ferguson, with a Bosch hydraulic system. The front axle is Carraro.
