Just came in for lunch, thought I'd get y'all to check my arithmetic while I wait for the tylenol to work on my back.
Forty pounds of diesel plus twelve pounds of chain on the end of a four and a half foot wrench would be just over 230 foot pounds, right?

The arm has to be at 90 degrees or you will loose thrust. On that angl eyou will have to subtract about 6" or bar length in your calculation.

Measure your length horizontal from the center, to the chain.

I see what you mean now.
I'd still be a little light like this.
Thanks, Wm

I think the bar should be straight and level to get a exact measurement. Like the other person said a couple good gurnts should be good and a extra for good measure. Stan

It's tough but you can pull 230 ftlb with a regular 1/2 drive torque wrench. That said I didn't do any calculations but I'm sure with the length of your 'wrench' you got at least 230 plus..... Around here something like that would probably get tightened to about two and a half to three good grunts....
