Couple of questions about selling scrap..Is there a good website that tells (roughly) what alum, copper, etc. are bringing day to day? Also, is a 25 pound alcoa wheel worth the same as 25 lbs. of cast cyl heads, or do different grades bring different prices? Thanks in advance from someone getting poorer by the day :)

Greg

Check with Cashmans's or Grooseman both are in the St. louis area. grooseman was paying $90 a ton on scrap metal. I think it was a little higher for aluminum.

Prices all vary depending on how far your local yard has to pay to ship product to nearest major market .

I took some cans off week ago Friday.
Got 71 cents per pound.

Sign I saw at the place said:
No. 1 Copper - $3.00/lb
No. 2 Copper - $2.50/lb

I don't know what No.1 and No. 2 means.

I was under the impression that Al-alloys
brought less money than pure Al (cans).

there used to be a paper called "Metal Age" that published daily prices. If they're still around there may be a web site.

It should be in the financial section of the newspaper. If not its in The Wall Street Journal. Those prices are higher than what you will really get.For aluminum there is cast price and billet price and must be separated.I dont think aluminum price is in the paper.
