Well as you guys know most people want wide front ends on there tractors. Well my idae would be to make a rig or sort of anti roll set up for trike front tractors. What this rig would be is this. It would have a bar on each side of the front end and be worked off hyds. You could run it with the bars up or you could lower one or both sides so a set of smaller wheels would run about 6 inches off the ground and they would be sort of caster type wheels say 8 inches in diameter. Would a set up like this work or am I just plain crazy. Thanks

The narrow front end is much less stable because of the pivot point. It is a problem especially when travling at high road speeds and making sharp turns. The wide front turns more like a truck and is much less likely to over turn.Plus the wide front adds quite a bit of weight to the front and helps hold it down.

I don't know that I'd trust it. best thing with a narrow front is just good ole common sense.

What would be cool is to modify your idea and create a hydrualic adjustable width front end so you could go from narrow front to wide front. you'd have the best of both worlds and could adjust to suit the situation you in.

Or maybe just go ahead a attach a FULL roll cage then you can just ride it out. It will be funner than a fair ride.

The problem is that wide front ends pivot around a pin in the axle, while narrow front end tractors have no such pivot. (The NFE pivots where the tires touch the ground.) Your "training wheels" would have no provision for pivoting, which would make the tractor unstable over rough terrain.

You could allow the training wheels to float, but that would negate the whole purpose.

Actually, the rollover danger of NFE tractors is highly exaggerated. They will roll over, but so will a WFE. The best way to prevent rollover with a NFE is to put ballast in the tires and avoid dangerous situations like slippery sidehills.

I never considered that the problem with N/Fs was tipping over, mostly bigger chance of a broken hand when one isn't paying attention and least expects it. Youch.

I didn't go to the link, but imagining it in my mind, I could see maintaining the turning radius (and broken wrist) of a N/F over a W/F, and perhaps less chance of overturning (with the broken fingers), I suppose. Whatever works for whomever is using it. Tractors aint supposed to be pretty, they're supposed to be modified if necessary. My two cents.

Training wheels for tractors??

Why not design a full conversion kit for these tractors.

Might work. Not sure what'll happen if she starts to go over and the down rigger catches. Might not be what you'd expect on a loader tractor. I think I'd start small, maybe on an offset like a cub.

Well I figure there are places the trike fornt works well and others haveing as you call them training wheels would work good. Plus if its set up so you can lift them up and close to the tractor you have more room to park them in the buildings also. Sort of the best of both worlds

Some self-propelled sprayers are built to adjust wheel tread hydraulically to match row spacing. Front and rear wheels slide sideways, wheel drives are hydros. Guess it's BTDT.
