I boughT a universal zenith carb 12522 from Yesterdays tractor went to install could not install becuase the shaft for the throttle on the back side of the carb stuck out too far. Called in to Yesterdays tractor today and asked them if this is normal they said it should fit right on without any trouble but this is not the case!! I talked to david over there at Yesterdays tractor he siad that I have to cut the shaft down so it will clear the block hence the name universal carb!! I want to know if anybody else has experienced this and if I should have to cut that portion of the threaded rod!

Thanks

Yes, It's a universal carb and that is all Zenith supplies or lists in dealer catalog for many tractors for several years now and you have to get the universal linkage set right and tighten lever where you want it and saw the shaft off then for some to fit right. A pain but that's all there is for new carbs unless you find a NOS MS TSX carb or spend almost as much rebuilding it as a new Zenith. Most basic TSX parts are available but some throttle shafts for those are obsolete also. I had to put a universal one on MF135 and after getting setup right and sawing off shaft I put some JB weld on the end to keep it from coming loose. Figured when it wore out again I can just saw it off or get another new carb.
