I NEED HELP IDENTIFYING A JD BACK HOE I HAVE. BUCKET MODEL IS 720, HOE MODEL IS 93, BUT I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ON TRACTOR (SERIES, MODEL, SERIAL?). PREHAPS I'M LOOKING IN THE WRONG PLACE. IT APPEARS TO BE EARLY 60'S, AND IS A TRACTOR MODIFIED BY JD FOR INDUSTRIAL USE(UNIT IS YELLOW). A LOCAL DEALER SEEMS TO THINK IT IS A 2010, BUT WHEN I GOT A I&T BOOK IT DIDN'T MATCH (BUT IT'S CLOSE). THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS ON THE WRONG SIDE, AND THE FRONT END IS DIFFERENT. THE FRONT CLIP IS ONE PIECE CAST AND HOOD STARTS BEHIND THAT, RADIATOR CAP IS IN CAST PIECE SECTION. HOOD DOESN'T RUN THE ENTIRE LENGTH(OVER RADIATOR AND ENGINE AND DEOSN'T ROLE OFF IN FRONT LIKE 2010. IT IS GAS AND HAS GENERATOR NOT ALTERNATOR, OIL FILTER NOT CARTRIDGE. 8 FORWARD 4 REVERSE WITH TOW POSITION, GEAR SELECTOR IS ON RIGHT OF STEERING WHEEL, HIGH LOW REVERSE ON LEFT UNIT HAS POWER STEERING. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Look on the back of the tractor rear end housing on the RH side before the axle housings attach on. You may find a tag and it may match up to a 3020 or 500 industrial model.

93 does correspond to the backhoes offered in the 60's, early 70's era. Hard to believe that a JD dealer could not identify a JD product, even tho industrial. Sounds like it might be an early JD 500 (industrial 3020).
