I went and filled a couple of five gallon tanks today and ended up spending almost $30.00. Unbelievable. At this rate, I won't be able to afford to cut my grass this year.

Filled the pickup with diesel yesterday, &69.00 and a 70 mile round trip to the farm. Then the fuel for the tractors, going to have to have gas and diesel delivered out there. Wife really complains but wont move to the farm. Does not complain about fuel $ for her car or on vacation. Its all in the perception.

Siphon hose time? She might not notice! Won't help your diesel bill, but the gas will be cheaper.

Gas just went from 97.5 cents per litre (4.42 per Canadian gallon or 3.70 per US gallon ) to 1.065 per litre over night ( 106.5 X 4.54 = $4.83Can gal or $1.065 X 3.8litre = $4.047 per US gallon.

My old GMC pick up holds about 120 LITRES man that is gonna hurt my pocket.

I hear you loud and deep in my wallet. Today, in Montreal, gas was 1.03 a litre, and that includes taxes that are not in Ontario, and the stations are just a couple of football fields away from the east end Montreal refineries, and that price includes a Montreal environment tax and a public transport tax, which are together over .035 a litre alone. Later this afternoon, at Mont Termblant (60 miles N of Montreal, the same brand of gas was 1.099, and those special taxes are not charged there! Then, just across the border in Ontario, it was .969. Prior to last week's increase, gas was as low as .899 just across the river in Ontario. Go figure. Any way that you DO figure, the consumer is getting reamed big time (pun intended!!). Makes me wonder how long I will keep my Crown Vic, and worse, what to get to replace it????? ????? ?.....QR..

well i talked about this a while back on the bashen bord and ...well i got bashed ha lol so i will try it over hear...we do not have a oil shortage at all...what i beleave we have is a gas and disel shortage BECAUSE the EPA and the powers that be have hamstrung the oil companys from building new or more refinerys..... now i am shure thear are some that wont beleave this but up hear in western no. dak. they were pumping at full rait and now they are shutting some wells in because the pipe lines are full and they are having a hard time selling thear oil so when they say gas will hit $3:50 or $4:00 i realy dout it but who knows...now if you remember the so called oil shortage of the 70s we had a very simmerler deal.

Oil shortage! in reply to 4010guy, 04-10-2006 22:26:17
There wasn't really an oil shortage back in the 70's. There was a smooth move by the gov't to create a shortage of refined oil. There were a lot of crude oil tankers floating around waiting to dump at the refineries but weren't allowed to. Hence the shortage of refined oil.

Gas prices are ridiculous, but not killing me... at least not when I'm down in AZ teaching:

third party image
45 miles per gallon, the top comes off, and it's FUN to drive!

Here in ND I'm bumming my Dad's pickups - 12 mpg and a 35 gallon tank really sucks! One tank of fuel in his truck is about what my wife and I spend combined for a month of commuting to work.

Oh well, fill 'er up!

It seems to me...
The less you drive, and the more cars on the road that get 45 miles to the gal. the faster the price will go up.
The more 12 miles to the gal. trucks on the road the slower it goes up. No matter what you do they are going to make thier BLLLIONS each month.
What ever happened to the "if you want cheaper fuel buy a diesel" I've seen Diesel more than gas at times. So we just have to suck it up and whimper.

think thats bad ? when i fill up it takes around 135 gal. and thats just a 3/4 ton cummapart smoker. fuel here is $2.63 / gal. the 21 mpg from the chip is paying for itself.

OH what the heck it's tax deductable as grass mowen is off road so just keep track of the gas ya use and take it off the taxes next year . It has come down to the fact that littel sign that i use to put in the windsheild of the semi when fuel first went above a dollar a gallon that READ -MY TAKE HOME PAY WON'T TAKE ME HOME. ANd with what i read in the paper everyday about drive off's at the gas stations around here as there are atleast 3-4 a day and all are in the 30-50 dollar range. Just wait it's going to get higher but do you think that people will slow down buying it NO as we got to go and we got to have it now. Time to change our clothes and grow a long beard and get them straw hats and get a horse and buggy.

Almost no one around here (CT / MA) still allows "pump first" since last summer -- used to be just the somewhat "seedier" areas...now everyone is pay first, pump later.

Ask your congressman where all the oil from the Alaska pipeline goes. Then ask him or her about the new EPA guidelines the refineries have to meet this year.
