Anyone know how many kilometers are in a mile?
I have an odometer reading of 69,000 kilometers, I need to know how many miles that is. Vehicle aint new enough to be able to hit the button on the dash to switch from miles to kilometers. Been too long since I was in school to remember this stuff. Thanks Brokenwrench

Multiply kilometers by .62 to get miles.

I do this conversion, and all others relating to Metric/English every time I drive in your country. Canada has had Metric instrumentes in cars since the early 80s. Once you know the conversions, it works ouy OK. Still cannot figure wht Canada HAD to go Metric when our largest trading partner (you guys) stayed English. Politics..... ..ya..ya...QR..

Yes, yes, that would be correct.

Had a Colonel who's wife died while I was in his Brigade. To make up the time, he took up jogging and learned to love it, so much that he assumed that we loved it too, the whole stinking Brigade, daily. He called them 10K "fun runs". While the rest of the base was running 2 miles and calling it a day, we were running 6.2 mile (10K) "fun runs". It sure was nice when he started dating again.

Call the dealer. in reply to Brokenwrench, 04-10-2006 13:17:16
Unless that was a strictly European vehicle, there's propably an easy way to switch it over to the English system.

It's an older caravan, still has a mechanical
cluster. You`d have to replace the cluster. Easy enough to find, but not worth the trouble.

Divide the kilometers by 8 and multiply that answer by 5. That will give you miles. A kilometer is 5/8 of a mile.
